The St James Parish region

St James is widely considered as the jewel in the crown of Barbados, with unmatched white sandy beaches, hi end hotels and food that ranges from world class restaurants to makeshift food stalls serving delicious local food at very reasonable prices.

St James is a winter playground for the rich and famous. If that's your thing you can find the stars mingling among the locals who are, characteristically, cool about it.

The west coast, and St james in particular, has something for everyone. Watersports on many beaches, horse riding, polo and the farmers market at Holders, golf at Sandy Lane and Westmoreland, gully walks, stunning beaches, world class restaurants to friendly rum shacks.

Lower Carlton

Lower Carlton has the island's favourite fish seller, the famous John Moores Bar net door, St Alban's church that hugs the the coast, and a quiet stretch of beautiful beach. Bus run along the coast road every few minutes taking people length of the island, via the capital, Bridgetown.

For shoppers, Lime Grove in Holetown can offer you premium brands such as Louis Vuiton, Longines and Armani. For everyday supplies there's a supermarket in Holetwon and numerous street stalls selling fresh, locally grown fruit and veg.
