Available for exclusive-use, self-catering holidays, accommodating up to 18 people in nine bedrooms. The house is ideal for special occasions such as family reunions, anniversaries, birthday parties, honeymoons, hen parties, weekend house-parties, or just for a peaceful and relaxing holiday within your own private estate.

Wood-burning stoves in the drawing room and the reception hall during winter months. Logs, central heating, towels, toiletries and linen are all included.

Outdoor activities including cycling, walking, golf, tennis, fishing, game shooting and clay pigeon shooting can be arranged nearby. The area is ideal for hill walking and the 212 mile Southern Upland Way, skirts the edge of the estate on the east side of Moffat Water. There are miles of quiet country roads for cycling around the estate as well as cycle paths around Moffat.

Dumcrieff is a great location for small, intimate weddings for up to 18 people in the house, or up to 200 with a marquee on the lawn. Our wedding co-ordinator will arrange your special day.

SPECIAL EVENTS: For a truly memorable holiday we can arrange a number of special events tailored to suit you and your party including - Murder Mystery Night with professional actors, Scottish Supper, Nights and Events from Burns Suppers to the more unusual McGonagall nights, Traditional Scottish Entertainment, Nights & Events, our Pipe Major can pipe in and address the haggis, greet you and your guests on arrival and play the pipes for any occasion.

We can also arrange HANDFASTING CEREMONIES. In particular we have a lovely service set in 1320, non-religious, but very spiritual in tone. We can dress the happy couple in period costume and involve other family members. Our Handfasting Service is a truly special and wonderful experience.

The Dumfries and Galloway region

Dumfries & Galloway is a very picturesque region of Scotland and is usually milder than the rest of the country due to the Gulf Stream. There are many places to visit in the region with activities and visitor attractions for all ages.

A few nearby attractions include:

The Grey Mare's Tail - the 5th highest waterfall in Britain, near Moffat.

The Samye Ling Buddhist centre in Eskdalemuir with a Temple, Tibetan Tearoom, courses, retreats and tours.

Craigieburn Tibetan Garden and coffee shop.

Drumlanrig Castle near Thornhill with castle tours and many outdoor activities available including mountain biking, shooting, fishing and Land Rover tours as well as a number of events including the Country Fair in August and outdoor theatre performances etc.

The Moffat Classic Car Rally is an annual event usually held in June. About 900 entrants come from all over the UK as well as France and Germany.

The annual Sheep Races are usually held in mid August in Moffat High Street.

There are over 30 golf courses in Dumfries & Galloway including one in Moffat.

The Lake District is just over an hour's drive to the south.

Glasgow & Edinburgh are about an hour's drive to the north.

Moffat

Moffat is a bustling little country town which attracts visitors from all over the world. There are numerous hotels in the high street including the narrowest hotel in Britain. There's a wide selection of shops including a small supermarket, two petrol stations, a post office, newsagent, gift shops, butcher, baker, health food shop, book shop, pottery, two garden centres, award winning restaurants, coffee shops, cafe, two fish & chip shops, a chinese takeaway, a shoe shop, a florist, hairdressers, clothes shops, a woolen mill shop, a small museum and more. There are larger supermarkets in Lockerbie (12 miles), Dumfries (20 miles) and Carlisle 44 miles. Tesco can take orders online and deliver to the door.
