La Loctais is a welcoming and comfortable property with an impressive open plan living area. Built in 1784 and renovated in 2006 it has the original exposed beams and granite fireplace. The immediate surrounding area is beautiful countryside with many walks and cycle tracks.

Situated within 20minutes drive from the impressive Le Mont St Michel which features on UNESCOs list of world nature and cultural heritage sites. There are many unspoiled bays and beaches along the beautiful coastlines of North Brittany and South Normandy to explore as well as forests, lakes, rivers and canals. Relax in the pretty garden with a glass of wine or visit one of the many Chateaus, parks and gardens in the area.

Fougeres with its imposing medieval castle is worth a visit as is the coast from Vivier-sur-Mer through Cancal (stop for a plate of fresh oysters) to the' medieval walled port of St Malo.

The local village at St Brice en Cogles has a swimming pool and the large town of Fougeres 20mins drive has a large indoor and outdoor leisure pool.

Other facilities in the area include Kayaking, horse riding, golf, sand surfing and fishing.

Cottage is open all year round, enjoy a Spring, Autumn or winter break. Open Christmas and New Year.

The cottage has a large open plan living and dining area with a well equipped kitchen. Large comfortable sofas to chill out on next to the wood burning stove and English satellite Television. Board games and reading books are provided.

On the first floor is a large bedroom with king size bed and en suite shower room. The family bathroom is also on the first floor including separate bath, walk in power shower, toilet and basin. On the second floor is the second large bedroom with a double bed and a single bed.

The ground floor is heated during the winter months by the wood burning stove(wood supplied at cost), all rooms are insulated with double glazed windows.

There is a cot, high chair and stair gate available.

There is a private area in front of the South facing property with its own garden furniture and BBQ. There is access to a large landscaped garden with sun loungers and further garden furniture.

Secure storage for cycles and motorbikes can be provided free of charge on request.

Start dates are flexible except during July and August when start days are Saturday.

Shorter breaks can be arranged on request.

All linen and towels are provided except for Beach towels.

The cottage is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness for our guests and unfortunately we are unable to accommodate pets.

Owners are English and French speaking.

The Brittany region

The area is known as the Emerald coast due to the grassy clifftops and lush fields, the sea often takes on a turquoise or jade colour. It is a picturesque coastline with rugged cliffs and sandy bays. The East of the area surrounding the bay of Le Mont St Michel is rolling countryside with wild life in abundance, traditionally farming is the main industry.

The local farmers produce much of the local produce including dairy products, cider, fresh meat and vegetables. Pretty hamlets and small villages are filled with flowers during the summer months, many hold fetes and festivals to celebrate the harvest during August.

The larger towns of Fougeres , Dinan and St Malo provide historic places of interest of a region steeped in history. The city of Rennes, the capital of Brittany, is 40mins drive away.

Fougeres

The nearest village is St Ouen Le Rouerie about 3KM away, it is a small village with a bar, a restaurant/ Pizzeria and a small shop. About 7km away is St Brice En Cogles, a small town with restaurants, bars, shops and a large supermarket. There is also a new indoor swimming pool.

The villages hold events throughout the year including the Fete de Moisson in August and the nearby village of Sougal holds an annual Goose Fair in July.
