Portland has a beautiful rugged coastline and slower paced than the nearby seaside town of Weymouth. Leisure activities on the isle include fishing, diving, bird watching, rock climbing and a variety of water sports including sailing at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, venue for the sailing events at the 2012 Olympic games.
Situated at the heart of Dorset's Jurassic Coast, Weymouth and Portland are an excellent base for exploring South Dorset's coast and countryside. Nearby Weymouth offers a lively nightlife, high street shops and a sweeping sandy beach.
