Marche is the eastern region of Central Italy with the Adriatic sea to the east and the Sibilini mountains to the west bordering Umbria. The valley where we are situated is very quiet, surrounded by farmland and quaint hilltop towns.
The coast (20 mins away) offers many beaches from sandy coves to sophisticated resorts.
Our local city of Ascoli Piceno (45 mins) is a wonderful place to visit with historical monuments, beautiful squares, the famous 'Meletti Cafe' for a time traveller to revisit 50 years ago, good restaurants and shopping.
The local town (6km) although with a population of only some 2,000, boasts a cathedral built by locally born Pope Sisto V. A charming town, with great views, a weekly market (Wednesday) and a midsummer festival of witches and elves a bit like our Hallowe'en (August 15th).
Many of the nearby local towns have a festival day to celebrate local food products, wine or the harvest.
