Kent is often referred to as the 'Garden of England' and there are some beautiful areas and historical places to visit. Leeds and Dover castles are within easy reach and arguably 2 of the most stunning castles in England.
Within a 30 minute drive to the south of Broadstairs is Ramsgate, where you can take a boat trip from the marina, Sandwich (home to 2011 Open Championships), Deal and Dover. Within 30 minutes to the west you can visit Margate and the Turner Contemporary Gallery, the fishing town of Whitstable, historic Canterbury and Herne Bay.
You can also visit the renowned animal parks of Howletts and Port Lympne, amongst a wide variety of other attractions and days out.
Our unique location, on the southeastern tip of Kent, affords us a more temperate climate than other parts of the country, ideal for exploring our internationally important coastline, boasting glorious sandy beaches of which many hold the prestigious Blue Flag award. One way of exploring is cycling the Viking Coastal Trail, one of the best leisure cycle routes in Kent and suitable for both experienced and novice cyclists.
Broadstairs, with its quaint fishermens' cottages, clifftop promenade and seven beautiful sandy beaches, is an unspoilt town and one favoured by Charles Dickens. The High Street offers plenty of places to shop for unusual gifts and to eat yourself around the world, including two excellent ice cream parlours, famous for their delicious homemade Italian ice cream.
Broadstairs is also home to the enigmatic Folk Week that sees a wealth of entertainment for adults and children alike throughout the second week of Augulst. More details can be sought out at www.broadstairsfolkweek.org.uk. Firework displays are carried out throughout the summer on Viking Bay, perfect to top off a lovely al fresco meal by the sea in one of the many eateries.
Broadstairs is on the High Speed Rail Link to London - with a direct link to Stratford & St Pancras International stations.
