Close to a major road network for easy access to all areas and major towns such as Vannes and Rennes and to the many beaches of the Gulf of Morbihan.

Only a few minutes drive from the Lac au Duc which is a man made lake from medieval times but now with beach and watersport facilities for all ages. Children think they are at the sea!

The Brittany region

Southern Brittany is the warmest part of Brittany and has some very hot summers. It has many links with England in the past, not just the Second World War where it was the home to the Resistance [Museum in Malestroit] but in medieval times too. There are many chateaux around previously belonging to the Dukes of Brittany and Josselin was a Royalist enclave during the Revolution. The tourist offices in Ploermel and Josselin have a lot of information reflecting what is available in the area and also historical monuments. The Gulf of Morbihan hosts many beaches, some deserted, and too many to list. Enjoy finding your own favourite!

Ploermel

Ploermel is a market town [Friday] with two large churches and a medieval quarter. It has many restaurants, bars, shops and supermarkets - SuperU, Intermarche, Leclerc plus Lidl and Netto - as well as banks and a main post office.

There is now a McDonalds, Buffalo Grill and a famous chain Italian [under construction] as well as the usual French eating places such as Creperies, Relais Routiers etc.

There is a 10-pin bowling alley and cinema [some British films] and a Nightclub all in the same complex. Only a 5 minute drive to drop off the kids!

Taupont is a small village with hairdresser, bars [2], small shop/post office, pharmacy and the best bakery for miles around winning awards for its local pastries.

There is also a church in Taupont and tennis courts and is just down the road from the Lac au Duc with more tennis courts, table tennis, volleyball as well as water sports, boats and pedalos. Snack bars and kiddies pool with flumes are also by the lake.

Golf Course 9 - hole at the Lac au Duc plus the hotel has beauty treatment and spa facilities.
