The North West Italy region

The Maritime Alps offer peaceful valleys and amazing mountain tops, authentic Piedmont traditions with easy access to the Ligurian coast.

The Tanaro Valley at 700 meters above sea level offers a cool summer escape when temperatures rise in the rest of Italy and the riverside beaches offer a pleasant alternative to crowded coastlines.

Spring is not to be missed when delicate flowers and herbs sprinkle the streets and walking paths. Autumn walks in the mountains are a photographers dream.

Rock climbing, trekking and biking can be done all year round. Downhill, cross country ski and snow shoe.

Ormea

Ormea is a small town of approximately 1,700 inhabitants. Each season is celebrated with various cultural activities and different "sagras" or eating festivals. It's a great place for families as children can ride horses, play volleyball and mini golf or try their hand at fishing. Ormea in Onda is a fun water slide competition not to be missed as a spectator or as a participant!

Students of history will enjoy exploring the forts and towers built to defend against the Saracens. Food enthusiasts will love the cheeses, typical pasta saraceno, bagna cauda, Ormeasco wine, fresh trout and of course . . . the mushrooms. We have picnic baskets and can organize wine and cheese tastings in the garden at the house.
