The term Riviera del Corallo (in Catalan is Costera del Coral) is indicated for a coastal stretch of Sardinia's north-western plains to the south of Nurra, where is the city of Alghero. Named for the great importance of red coral that is caught in its waters and worked to make jewelry and ornaments since ancient Roman times .
It is a tourist region including almost entirely in the town of Alghero, overlooking the Sea of Sardinia, more precisely on the bay of Alghero.
In addition to the town of Alghero there are some localities, like Fertilia, Maristella and Tramariglio, quiet places that are populated during the summer months. In addition, the land rises Alghero-fertility, which has always played a leading role in the development of the Riviera city in attracting numerous Italian and foreign tourists thanks to the increased supply of domestic and European destinations.
Its territory is of two types: mostly flat in the area south of the city and mixed to the north : here stands the highest peak of the area, Monte D'Olla, or Monte Doglia, but arrived only that 442 meters, stands as a "top "of the highest in the area. Instead lies in the north-western promontory of Capo Caccia the massif that dominates the bay. Along the coast we find many creeks in the south and if the coast looks jagged (with the exception of the beach in La Poglina Hope), in the northern part is devoted to beaches that run in an almost continuous basis from the port of Alghero Fertilia (about 7 km), gives way, once the hamlet, interspersed with sandy coves and bays including Le Bombarde, to arrive at Porto Conte, near which is another small village Alghero , Maristella.
Proceeding to the north-west we find the beach and pine forest Mugoni, then get to meet and the villages of Tramariglio Pischina Salida, before arriving in Cape Hunting, where, among other things, is land access to the caves of Neptune.
