In a beautiful valley close to the Dordogne in the northern Lot, Le Ségala, in the commune of Cazillac, offers you a comfortable holiday home from which to discover this lovely part of France. Ideal for up to eight people and with its own private brand new fully fenced pool (2014) , large garden and fruit and walnut orchards. It was once a famhouse and still retains some of the original features, including the flagstone flooring in the kitchen/diner and the stairs to the main bedroom and ensuite, has a door with a catflap! No cats needed now, though!
Cazillac is in the Dordogne River valley and near Rocamadour, famous caves, beautiful scenery, fortified villages and medieval architecture. There are lots of activities for all ages with festivals, car boot sales and eating out in village squares all be found within a short distance of the house. The local shops are five minutes drive. It is peaceful, stress-free and it is our aim to ensure that your stay is both relaxed and happy.

The beamed living room seats eight people comfortably and has French doors to the garden. It has a DVD player, video player, and music system. There are also a selection of games for all ages.
The fully equipped French style kitchen/dining room seating eight, also contains a gas oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, electric kettle, toaster and dishwasher. There are a couple of English and French cookery books too! The floor is the original flag stone one which we think is more than 150 years old and we have recently remodelled the cooking facilities in the 'cantou' fireplace
We have mentioned earlier the staircase from the kitchen/diner to one of the upstairs bedrooms - look at the picture of Red room! A second staircase from the living room takes you to one double and one twin room each with its own shower room, toilet and basin. There is another double bedroom on the ground floor with separate bathroom and toilet.
The gite is well equipped and has a separate room with the washing machine, extra fridge, and games, cushions, and barbeque equipment for the garden.
There are steps at various points on the property and visitors must be aware that, as this is an old farmhouse, the corridors are not wide enough for wheelchairs.

The private swimming pool is in fully fenced with plenty of space to sunbathe and enjoy the uninterrupted views down the valley. The pool is maintained so you can enjoy your holiday.
There is a barbecue and several seating areas and a hammock where you can enjoy a quiet read and snooze! You can also eat outside at a table for eight under the welcome shade of the old oak tree! A boules set and badminton equipment is provided for your use. Le Segala is on four acres of land with walnut and fruit trees -a great place for children to play!
Please email or telephone us for more details and to check up to date availability. Once you have emailed your confirmation that you wish to book certain dates we charge a 25% non-refundable deposit with the balance due 6 weeks prior to arrival. A security deposit of 400 euros (payable locally) or £380 (payable in the UK only) is required to cover damage and additional cleaning should the house be left dirty and untidy. The security deposit is refundable within ten days of your departure once the property has been inspected with you.
Changeover is on Saturday during high season when guests may arrive after 4pm and departures must be before 10.00am.
As short breaks (minimum of three days) are available in April, May, June, September and October, the changeover day is flexible.
Linen and house towels are included in the rental. Bed linen is provided on a weekly basis - towels for the duration of your stay.
Swimming towels are not included but can be hired separately. Use of the house towels by the pool is not permitted.
Interim cleaning can be arranged locally. If you have a special event and need a professional caterer we can organise this for you.
The department of the Lot is not as well known as the department of the Dordogne, but is just as beautiful and with the Dordogne river and the Lot and Cele rivers, amazingly beautiful scenery and friendly locals, offers a lovely vacation area.
Le Ségala is in the Dordogne River valley and near Rocamadour, famous caves, beautiful scenery, fortified villages and medieval architecture. Take time to visit Turenne, Collonges La Rouge, Carennac and Loubressac (all Plus Beaux Villages de France) and further afield to Sarlat, Domme, Cahors, the caves at Pech Merle and Lascaux - the list goes on.
We are on the pilgrimage route to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition has it that the remains of the apostle Saint James are buried. Equally, this area is strongly associated with Queen Eleanor and RIchard the Lionheart!
There are lots of activities for all ages with festivals, car boot sales and eating out in village squares all be found within a short distance of the house. The house is situated close to the Correze border and just 20 minutes from the N20 motorway and the new Brive airport which serves London City & Manchester! Limoges, Bergerac and Rodez airports are within 1¾ hour distance. Brive railway station serves Toulouse, Paris, Lille and beyond.
The summers are warm with temperatures ranging from the mid twenties to upper thirties! May June and September are lovely months for tourists as it is quieter than the ever-popular July and August.
Les Quatre Routes du Lot (4 minutes by car) has a cash machine, supermarket, 2 bakeries, a pharmacy, a paper shop, a wine shop and restaurants. There are restaurants within 3km of the house and more in Martel too. Martel and Meyssac have more comprehensive shopping facilities and have weekly markets. Brive is the largest town and has 2 markets a week and great shopping.
Tennis players, golfers, walkers, cyclists, canoers and fishing fans are well catered for and there are numerous other activities in the area. Just ask in your email if you have a sport or activity you enjoy and we will let you know the nearest place. Watching goat cheese making is just five minutes away whilst a visit to Limoges china factory outlets a two hour trip!
