The island of Sal is fantastic for water-sports. November to March is paradise for wind-surfers and kite-surfers who enjoy consistent winds. Sal has great restaurants and bars and is especially good for fish. Go down to the pier and watch the fisherman bring in huge tuna, marlin and wahoo. You can buy fish on the pier or try the catch in the local restaurants. Take euros with you as they are accepted everywhere. Several cashpoints are in town where you can withdraw escudos the local currency.
