The Koh Samui region

Koh Samui is located in the Gulf of Thailand, it is approximately 21 km wide and 25 km long. It is surrounded by about sixty other islands, which make up the Ang Thong National Marine Park and include other well known destinations, such as Koh Phangan and Koh Tao.

The island has a very short 'Monsoon' season and is usually experienced between the end of October but can continue into the middle of December, it is hot and humid most of the time and the tropical climate can result in some amazing thunderstorms. From around March through to October, temperatures regularly reach 35 Celsius. From July to October it sometimes rains off and on (it is the tropics after all!), but is still pleasant as the sun pokes through and rainbows are often seen. September and October can be nice times to visit as it is quieter and usually cheaper.

There is plenty to do and see whilst you are here, there are activities suitable for everyone, Scuba Diving, Fishing, Golf, Snorkelling, Bird shows , an Aquarium to name but a few.

There are very unique sights to see on the island as well, the 'Mummified Monk' at Wat Khunaram is something that you will not see every day and 'Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks' are a very unusual photo opportunity! Big Buddha sits proudly on a headland that you will see from above if you fly into Samui, here as tourists, locals and monks go about their business, side by side, you will most certainly get a flaour of local life.

There is a vibrant nightlife on Koh Samui, the main towns of Chaweng and Lamai have bars, nightclubs and shows galore, a holiday on the island would not be complete without a visit to one of the infamous 'ladyboy' shows, Las Vegas style entertainment in the heart of the island.

On a more practical side, Koh Samui has a variety of Banks and Cash-points, Post Offices, Dentists, Opticians and 3 International Hospitals.

You may be considering a holiday with a 'difference'...Koh Samui is fast becoming well known for its excellent Cosmetic Surgery and Health treatments, have your treatment done (at a much more affordable cost and with exceptional health care) and then recuperate in the privacy of Villa 6...

More affordable Dentistry treatments are widely available throughout the island, just build appointments into your week and recover lying on the beach!

Thailand is known as the 'Land of Smiles' and for very good reason, the local people will extend you a welcome that is warm and friendly, many speak English and will be happy to help make your holiday a memorable one

Located approx 2.3 km's from the village of Maenam (this is a 5 minute car or scooter ride or around a 20 minutes stroll) on the north shore of Koh Samui, and has views over the natural scenery of Thailand, with coconut groves, and unspoilt hillsides.

The large gardens of the project and the individual villas are all maintained to a high standard, and provide a lush backdrop to living in the villa. Further up the soi the unspoilt hillsides for which Samui is famous, can be seen from the sala and from the front door of the villa.

The local points of interest include Fisherman's Village in Bophut providing more sophisticated eateries around 4km away, and the major tourist destination of Chaweng with its large selection of nightlife around 8km away. Angela's, famous for its breakfasts, and home cooking and baking is just over 2 km away.

Maenam itself offers a selection of shops, restaurants, spas and bars, of a more relaxed kind, together with massage, and excellent quality and value dining, in the town or on the beach. Convenience stores and ATM's can be found in Maenam, whereas the two large supermarkets can be found around 6km away.

An assortment of restaurants ranging from Italian and Greek to traditional Thai, and more gastronomic meals can be had at Barracuda in Maenam, and The Farmer's and Napasai and Zazen Boutique Hotels, both of which employ celebrated Chefs to head their kitchens. Other higher end restaurants operate in Bophut, Cheong Mon and Chaweng, so all tastes are happily catered for.

A number of establishments offer spa and beauty facilities, and it is also possible to obtain a massage directly on the beach. We can also arrange for a massage in the privacy of your own villa. The 4 km long beach is long and wide and gently shelving, with clear water, and not so crowded as the more popular destinations but offers good swimming, and wonderful views of its sister island, Koh Phangan.

The hotels and restaurants along the beach tend to be smaller, family run businesses, although there are also some 5 star hotels in the vicinity. The emphasis is strictly on the natural beauty and tranquillity of the area, and trips to the Marine National Park, for diving, snorkelling, and kayaking can be arranged, as well as trips around the island, mountain safaris, elephant trekking and descending on cables through the canopy of the natural rainforest with collection from and return directly to your villa.

Courses in Thai cooking, and massage are also available. And at the end of the day enjoy a swim in your own pool, and a drink on the terrace. The Championship standard Santiburi Golf Course and Country Club is around 10 minutes drive away, and offers temporary membership to visitors. Set in spectacular surroundings this venue has hosted a number of international tournaments.

We are able to advise on ferries to the neighbouring islands, and on trips to the Angthong Marine Park, as well as alternative means of transport to and from Bangkok.

A number of water sports operate on Maenam Beach, and others can be found in Chaweng and Lamai.
