During the summer months most villages have day and/or night markets, selling local produce, which this region of gastronomy and wine is renowned for,( local regional delicacies include duck confit, foie gras, magret, cepes, walnut and prune dishes, and of course wine) Here you can eat, drink and enjoy musical entertainment throughout the evening. Leading directly from the kitchen/ dining area through the French doors onto the covered terrace, which allows for outside use in all weather, The terrace includes a feature built in barbecue, with beer/wine fridge where you have tables and seating for the all important al fresco dining and relaxing,overlooking your large pool with tiled sunbathing terrace and the farming countryside and woodland beyond.
This farming countryside being the ideal spot to view the local birds and wildlife of the region. Most of the grounds are kept cut, some is left to encourage wild flowers and grasses to attract our wide selection of beautiful butterflies.
The pool dimensions are 12.5m x 5.5m, accessed by steps at shallow end, with security alarm and pool lights.

Owners DO NOT live on site, but return for pool and garden maintenance and can be contacted at any time.

Due to the turbulent history of France in the middle ages there are many medieval chateaux well worth a visit, Castelnaud being one of the most popular.
In the SW region of France there are many bastide towns, and villages that remain largely as they were created hundreds of years ago,little has changed. They come to life on market days, where regional produce and delicacies are plentiful. It is an experience to wander around soaking up the atmosphere. Too many to list but Issigeac, Eymet, Miramont, Duras, St Foy Le Grande, Monségur are worth a mention.
If you want to venture further afield the Atlantic coast is about 90 mins away, offering fantastic sandy beaches, water sports, and excellent seafood restaurants.
Many vineyards have tours where you experience wine production methods and of course tastings, a wine lovers dream. The local ones being Duras Berticot, Marmande, Buzet, Bergerac, but Bordeaux, St Emillion, medoc are all within easy reach.
Most restaurants offer a very reasonably priced plat du jour, often with wine included.
Birdwatchers/twitchers will have a fieldday, many species are seen, Hoopoes, ( almost parrot like )
Golden Oriele, ( bright, pretty bird, and what a lovely whistle) and Cirl Bunting, to name but a few, ( IN MARCH A PAIR OF OSPREYS ON A NEARBY FARMERS IRREGATION LAKE)
During the spring (cuckoo) and long summer months there is nothing better than leaving windows open listening to the nightly chorus of cicadas, (crickets), tree frogs, nightingales and nightjars.
Canoeing on the Dordogne provides a slow and leisurely way of sightseeing as you pass picturesque villages, chateaux and points of interest. Canoe hire is also available on the local river Dropt
During August the Duras fete du vin which is held in the spectacular chateau Duras, is a must, 5€ entry and all day local wine tasting, canopes and entertainment.
Casteljaloux is a spa town with baths and saunas and offer massage facilities, and is about 40 mins away.
Marmande is a major town and hosts many events throughout the summer, markets, fetes, the well attended annual music festival held in the streets and squares is well worth a visit.
Most villages have weekly day/night markets, and annual fetes. The nearest one, Levignac friday night market being our favourite.( interesting, cosy, friendly and literally 5 mins up the road ) ( Duras is 10 mins and it is such a special place, and is renowned for it's rosé)
There are tourist information offices in most towns, locally Duras, Miramont, Marmande and Eymet.
The local village of Levignac also has a small supermarket, cafe bar, butcher, chemist, modern health centre and doctor and is 5 mins away by car.
Le Vieux Porche Restaurant in Seyches is excellent value for money, and only 10 mins away.
