Only minutes away from the mainland and just a few hours from London, the Isle of Wight is easy to reach yet it still remains one of the best kept secrets in the United Kingdom. Unspoilt and with spectacular scenery, areas of outstanding natural beauty and rich historical heritage make it a perfect place to relax, be inspired and vacate from the busy mundane.
The Isle of Wight is one of the warmest and sunniest places in Britain with the town of Ventnor best known for its microclimate that makes it one of the sunniest towns in the UK. Discover picturesque villages, spectacular cliffs, sandy beaches, rich farmlands, a diverse wildlife and beautiful sunsets. The island is perfect for that relaxing getaway – you can cycle, walk and ride without seeing a single car for hours.
The Isle of Wight offers a walkers paradise with more footpaths per square mile than any other English county. There are over 500 miles of well maintained paths on an island that measures 23 by 15 miles.
Walking on the Island is a chance to view the varied coastlines, from white chalk cliffs to quiet estuaries. Almost half of the coastline is designated “Heritage Coast”, a definition applied only to coastlines of the highest quality and unspoilt nature.
What better way to enjoy this than with a Pond Cafe Picnic.
With quiet country lanes and a large array of scenic off road-cycling routes, the Island also makes an ideal destination for cycling. There are routes for every level of cyclist and is a popular way of touring the Isle of Wight in the summer.
Here at The Hambrough we enjoy walking and cycling around the Island and are happy to provide any information you need.
