The West Country region

The Dorset and East Devon Coast, known as the Jurassic Coast, features many natural landmarks including Lulworth Cove, Chesil Beach and Durdle door, and extends over 95 miles from Exmouth to Christchurch, offering a selection of the finest sandy beaches to be found in the UK.

It is the only natural UNESCO World Heritage Site in England, ranking the Jurassic Coast alongside the Grand Canyon and Great Barrier Reef as one of the natural wonders of the world.

Exploring the Jurassic Coast

The Jurassic Coast is ideal for exploring on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. All of our cottages in East Devon are situated in what are known as the 'gateway towns and villages' to the Jurassic Coast. Sidmouth

We have a selection of lovely holiday cottages in Sidmouth for a perfect Devon holiday. Sidmouth is the "Regency Town by the Sea" and a superb destination for a self catering holiday in Devon.

Complemented by beautiful architecture and a selection of interesting shops and colourful gardens in an almost level location, Sidmouth is an elegant all season resort ideal for a short break in Devon or a longer stay.

Famous for its International Folk Festival in early August, the town features two beaches, both clean and safe for bathing. The main beach is shingle, and the second, Jacobs Ladder, has long stretches of sand and rock pools at low tide. Sidmouth is also a 'gateway village' to the Jurassic Coast which is just around the corner from your Devon Cottage. The many coastal paths make for ideal walking holidays in Devon.

Perfect for all age groups, Sidmouth town is within easy reach of many attractions including the Cathedral city of Exeter, Dartmoor National Park, and The Eden Project. Local attractions are Crealy Family Adventure Park, World of Country Life at Exmouth, and Sidmouth's world famous Donkey Sanctuary.
