The Living Space :

Not many luxury villas in Andalucía are designed with the same attention to detail as Villa Casa Sonana. The spectacular Andalucían scenery is key throughout the luxury Spanish villa and as such it has been designed with large open spaces, with double height ceilings, wall to wall glass, and balconies from each room. Large terraces provide beautiful views of the olive trees, forests of the neighbouring hillside and the spectacular Sierra de Ronda.

The kitchen is decorated in wenge wood and has all that you would need if you are looking for inspired cooking! From the large gas hob, to the dishwasher to the ice and iced water dispensing fridge – the aim of this space is be a place where you would be comfortable cooking – or comfortable watching people cooking!

The living area and kitchen open up on to the terraces as if it was all one space. As you enter the terrace, all you may hear as you gaze out to the olive groves in the distance are the tinkling of the bells of neighbour Jose's sheep and the rustling of the eucalyptus trees from the stream at the bottom of the garden. The terrace is the ideal place to spend much of your long, lazy day at the villa. With Pizza Oven, BBQ and large communal table you needn't move …. apart from to go the few steps to the large swimming pool.

In the winter, there is no need to pine for the summer sun as warmth is generated by an open fire and under floor heating throughout the house.

The Andalucia region

Andalucia is a fascinating place for its spectacular Moorish monuments, beautiful white hill towns, sparkling blue coast and natural beauty of its mountainous country. The Moors were a mixed race of Berbers and Arabs that occupied Spain (Al-Andalus) for almost eight hundred years. They developed the most sophisticated civilization in the Middle Ages, centered in Seville , Cordoba and Granada . Every city, town and village, is a wonderful mixture of Christian and Muslim influence. Granada preserves the most beautiful Moorish monuments, the Alhambra palace, being the largest and most sensual building in Europe. Córdoba's old mosque with a cathedral built inside it and the spectacular remains of the ancient Moorish city of Medna Azahara shold be regarded as a mustsee whislt Seville boasts the most spectacular of all Gothic cathedrals and largest church in the world as well as its Moorish Alcazar.

The white towns surrounding Ronda , offer an unspoiled view into Andalucian life with their surrounding natural beauty, delicious home-cooking and stunning appearance-clustered beneath Moorish/Christian castles and churches. There are some terrific walks in this area.

The mountains in the Sierra Nevada and, less known, the Sierra Morena [particularly its western projection in the Sierra de Aracena offer good trekking and skiing, while the coast between Tarifa and Cadiz on the Atlantic has some of the best beaches in Spain. Beware of Europe's most developed resort area on the Costa del Sol as it is hard to find peace and natural beauty, without paying a high price. Finally, Spains largest and most impressive nature reserve, Coto Donana, can be found near Cadiz .

Arriate

Ronda is 6 km from Villa Casa Sonana, and is a fantastic real Spanish city, offering you everything when you can drag yourself away from the relaxation at Casa Sonana! It has history, culture, shopping, great tapas bars and restaurants, childrens activities, the oldest bullring in spain, the former holiday city of Ernest Hemmingway & Orson wells. The first week of each September Ronda hosts their annual Feria - a truly spectactular traditional fiesta celebrating its history and the city comes alive with local festivities.

Nearer to the Villa, you have Arriate, your local Pueblo Blanco, and if you want to experience "The Real Spain" then this shouldnt be by-passed. It offers you everything you need from shoe-shops (the cheapest in Andalucia also!) to local fish, meat, vegetable shops. Some of the best tapas bars in the area and full of locals who geninely want to welcome you to their Pueblo. It needs to be explored and by doing so you will get a real slice of true Andalucia Pueblo lifestyles.
