Wellington Manor is an impressive, elegant palladian style Villa, set in four acres of wonderful landscaped grounds, centring on the mill stream, alongside a once thriving, but now silent woollen mill. Built by Thomas Fox in 1797, the house and gardens have been carefully restored by the current owners. The house sleeps up to 21 guests.
Ground floor: Entrance through the grand (40ft) Hall. Off the Hall is a fully equipped Kitchen together with a scullery and jam room. The drawing and dining rooms are where guests can unwind in comfort and style with a roaring log fire, amid many antiques and family portraits. The more energetic can retire to the Long Room for a game of table tennis or pool.
First floor: There are 10 bedrooms (and 6 shower/bathrooms) all reflecting fascinating, different aspects of the history of the house and family. They are comfortably furnished, with sumptuous beds. 3 bedrooms have en suite facilities, 3 attic rooms, 2 twins and 1 walk through room. We believe in helping to arrange probably the best big house party you will attend or host. We fuss over everything, ensuring that all these elements are of a high, consistent standard.
From the crisp table linen and sheets, to the log fire laid ready to put a match to, we think the extra effort is worth it to ensure our guests arrive to a wonderfully warm, spotlessly clean house, full of character and atmosphere - a real home from home. Your very own country house party in a beautiful, comfortable venue.
Our obsession with cleanliness, combined with spacious houses and lovely surroundings, makes a huge difference to the quality and feeling of your stay.
We can enhance your stay with a range of catering from larder supplies and ready to serve meals or provide a fully served dinner for your special occasion.
During your stay we can also arrange activities for your guests to enjoy – riding, shooting, archery, off roading, massage and pampering – to name a few.
We have built our reputation on the meals we provide—it’s an integral part of our business. All the meals are homemade by talented local chefs who come to the house just for the occasion they are booked. We offer you a variety of menus from a simple, hearty, two course, self-service meal, to a more formal, fully served and cleared dinner. All are made from the best available local produce wherever possible.

Massage: Just the thing to soothe away stress! The masseurs come to the house for a minimum of 3 hours, for either hour or half hour treatments.
Archery, laser clay, pistol and clay shooting can be arranged in the grounds, ideal if you are short of time or don’t fancy driving further afield.
If you don’t mind a scenic drive down to Exmoor, there is nothing more exhilarating than Horse Riding on the hills, this can be combined with Fly Fishing tuition and Clay Shooting as all three are quite near each other, with the prospect of meeting up afterwards for a pub lunch to tempt everyone out of the house!
On the entertainment front, our casino night is very popular (strictly for fun, we do not have a gaming licence!). We can also arrange a murder mystery or you can choose from a wide range of musicians, from a pianist to a ceilidh or from Blue Grass to dinner jazz and anything in between.
Hire your own sports complex: We have a private arrangement with a local public school to hire their facilities at weekends. Fancy a cricket pitch for some 20:20 fun (tea in the pavilion too!), fabulous tennis and squash courts or why not try fencing in the salon coached by Olympic champion Gyorgy Felletar. The sports hall can be hire by the hour for 5-a-side football, badminton or basketball.
Cooking skills: let our chefs work with you and have a fun experience producing a meal for yourselves – our Thai course is very popular.
Golf: we can direct you to excellent parkland, championship and links courses all within 5-10 miles of our properties.
Walking: Whether you want a gentle stroll, or a more energetic hike up a hillside, there is something for everyone, (mostly with a pub along the way!) there are maps and guided walks at the houses; we can send you information on these before you come if you wish.
Quantock Hills, home and inspiration to the writers Wordsworth and Coleridge and home for the oldest breed of wild pony; glorious for walking, especially down Dead Woman’s Ditch!
The Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the West Country’s best kept secret.
Exmoor, including Lorna Doone country, Tarr Steps (we know an excellent natural river pool to swim in the summer at OS grid ref. 3286). All are beautiful areas to explore.
Surfing: we can direct you to great spots or arrange excellent private tuition for your group including all equipment.
Branscombe Beach on the south coast near Lyme Regis, is a romantic, wonderful, shingle beach. Early summers evening barbecues on the beach are also highly recommended!
Saunton Sands; near Barnstaple, north Devon, is a two mile stretch of lovely, soft, sandy beach. Around the corner is the popular surfing beach Croyde Bay and Woolacombe Sand. Roads around this area can get busy in the peak summer months.
