Casares del Sol (as featured in C4 TV overseas property programme "A Place in the Sun" in January 2014) is an attractive development of luxury apartments and penthouses within a secure gated complex with delightful gardens, fabulous swimming pools and underground car parking facilities.
Our well furnished and thoughtfully equipped ground floor 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom apartment overlooks attractive gardens and a fabulous swimming pool. Guests have access to two swimming pools within this secure, gated development. The swimming pool that our apartment overlooks has a life guard and is open throughout the summer, usually from mid June to end September/early October, but precise dates depend on the weather and usage. The second swimming pool, which is less than a 5 minute walk away, is open all year round. Both have adjoining children's pools. We were delighted to see that Casares del Sol featured very positively in Channel 4's overseas property TV programme "A Place in the Sun" in January 2014.
The apartment has everything you will need on holiday including a fully equipped kitchen with separate laundry area and a spacious lounge/dining room with a TV and a DVD/CD player, an i-Pod station and free wi-fi facilities. It is fully airconditioned (both hot and cold to suit all seasons) and has a large south facing terrace. The secure, gated development is set in tropical gardens with two landscaped swimming pools (and separate children's pools) and is close to a selection of excellent golf courses. The Casares Golf & Country Club is a short 5 minute walk away and has an attractive bar and restaurant. There is also a clean sandy beach only 800m away with its own beach bar/restaurant. The apartment is situated in a quiet and relaxing location but also benefits from being only an 8 minute drive from Duquesa Marina which has an excellent range of bars, restaurants and nightlife. The restaurants cater for all tastes, offering seafood, steaks, Italian, Chinese, Indian and Spanish cuisine. Estepona and the picturesque hilltop village of Casares is also a short drive away.

General location of the resort is also ideal with many interesting places to visit nearby, as well as good restauarants and beaches. Top marks all round!

We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the apartment (it seemed smaller in the photos), and how well equipped it was. The owners have put a lot of thought into making it as comfortable as possible, with everything from a sewing kit to a garlic crusher in the kitchen, and a selection of books and movies for guests to use. The terrace overlooks the pool and we enjoyed eating there. The apartment is very well located for exploring the area - we enjoyed our trips to Gibraltar, Ronda and Casares. I would have no hesitation in recommending the apartment to a friend. We had a fantastic holiday!

August/September 2010: Fahey family: We had a fantastic holiday. The apartment was excellent, well furnished, comfortable beds and a great view of the swimming pool from the terrace. Too many attractions to list but have a few that are definitely worth a visit: water park at Algerciras, beach at bottom of the hill across the roundabout - great beach bar too; beach at Estepona fantastic; restaurants: La Traviata at Duquesa - great steaks, Marymar beach front seafood restaurant at Sabinillas - great fish cooked on beach and brought to your table. This is the fifth time we have stayed at Casares and we will definitely be coming back - this apartment is the best we have stayed in. Thank you.

Local highlights included the the beach just over the main road with its big, white rolling waves and soft sand; the Sunday morning markets with their interesting array of goods; and the atmosphere and food at Puerto Duquesa. Finally, the information available in the apartment includes a lot of the history of the surrounding area - it's well worth reading if you have the time. All in all a great holiday - thank you.

The kitchen and laundry area is fully equipped including fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric cooker, microwave and washing machine and clothes airer. The lounge/dining room has a comfortable leather suite (seating 5 people) and an oak dining table seating 6 people. In addition to the TV, there is a DVD/CD player for your entertainment - with a selection of music and films to enjoy - and an i-Pod station. Free Wi-Fi is also available; access codes will be provided prior to arrival. Patio doors from the lounge lead on to the terrace which is south facing and enjoys the sun for most of the day. There is a rectangle patio table with 4 chairs and 2 sun beds and a parasol. This is the perfect place to enjoy an early evening sundowner! The bedrooms have 4 single beds but the two in the master bedroom are zipped together to provide a King size double bed. This arrangement provides the flexibility for a family or for four friends on holiday together (eg on a golfing break). Both bedrooms benefit from airconditioning but they also have very effective 3 speed ceiling fans which many guests often prefer. There is also a safe in the master bedroom wardrobe which is available for our guests.
Our local management agent will meet you when you arrive at Casares del Sol, see you settled into the apartment and will provide any help you need during your stay. The apartment will be clean and ready for your arrival with freshly made beds and bath and hand towels provided. Our local manager can provide a change of linen and towels on request for stays of 2 weeks or longer.

Casares del Sol is a prestigious development of luxury apartments and penthouses in a secure gated complex with underground car parking facilities. The living room and terrace are south facing and overlook the garden and swimming pool. This pool is open during the summer holidays and there is an additional pool on the same complex a short walk away which is open all year round. Both these pools are a good size and also have smaller pools for younger children.
This is a wonderful all year round destination and the apartment is ideally situated for exploring Gibraltar, Sotogrande, Ronda, Puerto Banus and Marbella. The Marinas of Duquesa and Estepona are only a short drive away and they both have a good selection of bars and restaurants and colourful weekly street markets. There are also a number of world class 18 hole golf courses close by with blue flag beaches only 800 metres away.
The Costa del Sol offers a wide range of sightseeing, sporting and leisure activities, many within easy reach of the apartment. Puerto Banus with its restaurants, clubs, bars and shops is a 20 minutes drive away whilst, in the opposite direction, Gibraltar offers tax free shopping and spectacular views only 30 minutes away. Children and adults alike will enjoy the wonderful beaches and a visit to the Selwo Safari Park. Further inland, Ronda and the many surrounding white Andalucian villages, offer great historical interest and a glimpse of traditional Spain.
There are also many excellent 18 hole golf courses within easy access of the apartment. The Finca Cortesin Golf Club, which hosts the 2009 World Match Play Tournament, is within walking distance and offers superb golfing facilities and an excellent restaurant. The Casares Golf & Country Club is also only a leisurely stroll away and offers discounted rates to visitors from Casares del Sol. They also have an attractive bar and restaurant.
One of the main attractions of the Costa del Sol is its consistently warm mediterranean climate and the region enjoys sunshine for over 320 days per year. The hottest time of year is during the Summer months when daytime temperatures average around 30 degrees Centigrade (85 F). Even during the Winter months the climate is pleasantly mild with daytime temperatures around 18 degrees Centigrade (63 F). You will need some warm clothing during the Winter evenings, although temperatures rarely fall below 10 degrees Centigrade.
This very pleasant climate makes the Costa del Sol an attractive all year round holiday destination and an excellent short break from the British weather, particularly in late Autumn and early Spring. Our apartment is an ideal base for exploring Andalucia or enjoying a golfing holiday.
Duquesa and Estepona, which both have pretty marinas and an excellent range of restaurants, bars and nightlife are only a short drive away. The Andalucian village of Casares is a 15 minute drive inland from Casares del Sol and offers wonderful views, country side walks, birdwatching and a small selection of bars and restaurants. The beach is literally a 3 minute drive away or, if you are feeling fit, a 15 minute stroll from the apartment where there is also a lively beach bar. There is a good selection of well stocked supermarkets in Sabinillas which is only a 5/10 minute drive from the apartment. There are a number of excellent golf course close by, some within walking distance.
There is also good access by road to a number of attractive Spanish towns. Ronda is high up in the mountains with stunning views across the countryside whilst Mijas, just 8 km inland, is set amongst pine groves on the edge of the Sierra de Kijas mountains with its cobbled streets, unique square bullring and breathtaking coastal views. Most watersports eg diving, waterskiing and kitesurfing are available at Tarifa, just 14 km along the coast. There is also skiing in the Sierra Nevada, often until May. Selwo Safari and Adventure Park (www.selwo.es) is close by for family entertainment. If you are more adventurous, you can take a trip to Morocco on the hydrofoil.
