Stoke Cottage is a quaint thatched cottage with separate garden and parking. The property has been decorated and furnished in keeping with a charming country cottage style whilst also benefiting from a modern kitchen and bathrooms. Well located in the traditional Dorset village of Chideock, it is within a few minutes' walk of the George Inn which serves homemade and locally sourced dishes recommended by past visitors. The village is well serviced with a post office/general stores, newsagent/shop and another pub in additional to a pretty parish church very near the cottage. Chideock village has a colourful history full of smugglers and intrigue, the 'Chideock Gang' in the 18th century were a select band of smugglers who limited their activities to the coast between Seatown and Charmouth. Chideock is mentioned in the Doomsday Book and a fascinating Catholic Church lies just a short distance from the property - well worth a visit. There are miles and miles of wonderful coastline to explore, with Chesil Beach being a haven for fossil hunters, beachcombers and coastal walkers. Seatown is less than a mile away and offers a very attractive Inn that actually sits on the edge of the beach. From the beach at Seatown you can climb Golden Cap, the highest point on the whole of England's south coast, which gets its name from its distinctive yellow sandstone summit. Lyme Regis, about a 10 minute drive away, is an elegantly romantic up market town with its famous Cobb having been a venue for the iconic film the French Lieutenant's Woman. The market town of Bridport, lying around 3 miles away has an interesting antiques market, mix of high street and old curiosity shops plus a farmers market
