The Rhone/French Alps region

Chamonix Valley lies within the Haute-Savoie region of the Rhone Alps. It is famous for being the town at the foot of the highest mountain in western Europe, Mont Blanc. The ski domains benefit from this, being high and therefore snow sure. Only just over an hour from Geneva airport, at the end of the 'White Road' it is easily accessible so that you spend more time relaxing and enjoying your holiday than travelling.

Chamonix

Argentiere lies within Chamonix Valley's world renowned ski domains at the foot of the infamous Grand Montets ski area and within easy reach of the friendly slopes at Le Tour/ La Balme. The town is a traditional alpine mountain village with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. Chamonix town is no more than a half hour drive away and is a vibrant, cosmopolitan mountain town with first class restaurants, bars and shopping. In addition to the vibrant apr├Ęs ski atmosphere there is plenty of other winter activities to try. Ascend to 3800 metres on the Aiguille du Midi Cable car, or take the mountain train to view the Mer du Glace, glacier a truly magical place to visit as the grotto is carved out of the glacier and lit with myriad of different coloured lights. There is even a museum inside the glacier! If you fancy something more energetic why not try an afternoon of ice climbing at Argentiere's beginners ice climbing 'wall' or cross country ski-ing around the nearby track. There are also plenty of snow shoe trails and, as Chamonix lies at the heart of Alpinism, opportunities to try ski-touring with international mountain guides, as well as 'self-drive' husky dog sled rides! There is so much to do here you might need 2 weeks!
