Aside from the sea the department boasts miles & miles of peaceful countryside with rivers, lakes, areas of woodland, thousands of marked footpaths and signposted bicycle routes where you can explore ancient churches & ruined abbeys etc.
Fishing is popular in the ocean or in the Vendée's rivers and lakes.
