The Scottish Highlands region

An ideal touring base with Culloden Battlefield, the Black Isle, Loch Ness and the Whisky distilleries only a short drive away and Isle of Skye and Balmoral are a couple of hours away.

Aviemore

Surrounded by local wildlife deer can be seen from the houses and rare birds i.e. ptarmigan, dotterill, osperys and capercaillie can be seen only a 15 minute drive away.

A short drive or bus ride takes you to the Cairngorm Mountain base station carpark. From here you can walk to the top or if you don't feel quite so energetic, take the funicular railway to the Ptarmigan restaurant and the 'Shop at the Top'. Of course, weather permitting, you could always ski backdown.

At the foot of the mountain pop in to the Reindeer Centre at Glenmore or book yourself a visit to the Sled-dog Centre.

If you enjoy watersports then stop off at Loch Morlich. Try your hand at sailing or canoeing.
