Koh Samui is located in the Gulf of Thailand, it is approximately 21 km wide and 25 km long. It is surrounded by about sixty other islands, which make up the Ang Thong National Marine Park and include other well known destinations, such as Koh Phangan and Koh Tao.
The island has a very short 'Monsoon' season and is usually experienced between the end of October and goes into the middle of December, it is hot and humid most of the time and the tropical climate can result in some amazing thunderstorms. From around March through to October, temperatures regularly reach 35 Celsius. From July to October it sometimes rains off and on (it is the tropics after all!), but is still pleasant as the sun pokes through and rainbows are often seen. September and October can be nice times to visit as it is quieter and more often then not it is cheaper. There is plenty to do and see whilst you are here, there are activities suitable for everyone, Scuba Diving, Fishing, Golf, Snorkelling, Bird shows , an Aquarium to name but a few.
There are very unique sights to see on the island as well, the 'Mummified Monk' at Wat Khunaram is something that you will not see every day and 'Grandfather and Grandmother Rocks' are a very unusual photo opportunity! Big Buddha sits proudly on a headland that you will see from above if you fly into Samui, here as tourists, locals and monks go about their business, side by side, you will most certainly get a flavour of local life.
There is a vibrant nightlife on Koh Samui, the main towns of Chaweng and Lamai have bars, nightclubs and shows galore, a holiday on the island would not be complete without a visit to one of the infamous 'ladyboy' shows, Las Vegas style entertainment in the heart of the island.
On a more practical side, Koh Samui has a variety of Banks and Cashpoints, Post Offices, Dentists, Opticians and 3 International Hospitals.
You may be considering a holiday with a 'difference'...Koh Samui is fast becoming well known for its excellent Cosmetic Surgery and Health treatments, have your treatment done (at a much more affordable cost and with exceptional health care) and then recuperate in the privacy of Villa 6...
More affordable Dentistry treatments are widely available throughout the island, just build appointments into your week and recover lying on the beach!
Thailand is known as the 'Land of Smiles' and for very good reason, the local people will extend you a welcome that is warm and friendly, many speak English and will be happy to help make your holiday a memorable one.

Weather & Climate
Thailand is fast becoming a country to be visited all year round.
Koh Samui benefits from a good weather season of about 10 months of the year.
The 'dry' season is generally from January till May and July through to September. Temperatures regularly reach 30 to 35 degrees till May and then 35 to 40 degrees till September with odd showers from July to September.
The 'wet' season is generally from mid October to mid December when temperatures are around the 25 to 30 degree mark.
November is often regarded as the 'monsoon" season, though the heavy rains that come at this time are generally only for a few hours at a time, with many days in between blessed with sunny spells.
Tropical rain showers may occur late December and early January.
As with all weather predictions in this ever changing world of climate irregularity, you can never be absolutely sure and the weather can catch us out but we hope this gives you a helpful guide nonetheless.
(Please note, the weather predictions for Koh Samui are very different to those of Phuket and Krabi, which experience different seasons due to their location in the country). Do make specific enquires with your travel agent and ensure you are getting the right information, especially if you intend to partake in activities such as scuba diving, sailing, general water sports and golfing.
