Marleyvale is on the South Easterly side of Barbados facing the Atlantic Ocean which provides cool, refreshing breezes and offering some spectacular views of the coastline. The Parish of St Philip is mostly rural but is becoming more residential as the Bajans are becoming aware of the great beaches and outstanding beauty that makes this area so popular to visitors. Culpepper Island is a small rock laying just off the shore which gives the area it's name.
The area is in a rural setting but Skeete Bay, where you can fish off the pier alongside the locals and maybe catch a glimpse of the turtles, is a short walk across the clifftop. Also close by are the beautiful Bottom Bay and Crane Beach and surfing is within 30 mins drive at Silver Point on the South Coast and the world famous Soup Bowl at Bathsheba on the East Coast. The surrounding area has many tourist sights such as St John's Church, Codrington College, the coastal Barclay Park and a tour of the Scottish district where you will find plenty of eating and drinking spots along the way. A few are Aunt Lucy's Bar, The Roundhouse and the Sand Dunes. Or you could just relax on the balcony or garden area where you can watch the monkeys play close by, enjoy the sea view, have a barbeque and just while away the hours with a cooling drink and a game of dominoes.
