The Old School House, built in the early 19th Century and used as a local primary school until the 1960's has been lovingly restored over the last few years by my husband and myself, Ian and Jo. The house is about a mile out of Montappone on the road to San Angelo in Pontano. You can sit comfortably in the lawned south facing garden with amazing far reaching views over the valley and towards the gorgeous Sibillini mountain range. There is a pond full of fish and wildlife to observe and a hot tub is available for relaxing. We often have B-B-Q's and pizza evenings using the pizza oven and there is also a couple of bikes for guests to use to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside.
We have lived in Italy now for 10 years and offer a very warm welcome to our guests. We can cater for up to ten people with each bedroom comfortably furnished and a choice of double or twin beds. Bathrooms on every floor, with one en-suite.
If you are visiting Le Marche in order to research the area before buying a property, you will not do better than to rest awhile with us. We have an extensive knowledge of the area and of services, amenities and agents. We also know of a number of properties for sale.
Full wireless internet is available throughout the house.
We are always on hand for information and ideas as to how to enjoy the best sights and attractions of the area of which there are many! Montappone itself is a world famous international hat making center, with small local shops and restaurants with the best pizza you'll ever taste!
Montappone is within easy reach of the larger towns Fermo, Macerata, Civitanova. Sea side resorts of Porto San Girogio, Porto San Elpidio are just 30 minuets away. The Sibilini Mountains are 45 minuets away, visiting lake Fiastra is a must.
The Old School House offers a warm welcome and a homely quiet environment to enjoy your stay in Italy.

The Le Marche region is know for its rural beauty. Mostly a small farm landscape, of small fields each offering a diverse selection of crops, giving the landscape it's typical "patchwork quilt" effect. The roweling hills give way to luscious valleys and gentle rivers. The driving in this area is challenging and interesting, something new around every corner.
The climate is seasonal. We get wonderful spring time with warm sunny days and cooler evenings, the plants start to bud and the garden and fields turn green. As spring turns to summer in late May the temperature rises, giving hot days and balmy nights. A drive up to the mountains is a must at this time of the year. Where swimming in Lake Fiastra is well recommended. By the end of September the evenings are cooling down even though the days are still quite hot, but by October you will need to bring a jumper although it is still warm enough to swim in the sea.
Throughout the year there are may festa's and parades taking place all around the area. Most prominent for Montappone is the Hat Festival in the third week of July. Montappone is an International Hat Centre. In July we take the opportunity of showing how the tradition of hat making came to the area and just how it has grown and given the town our illustrious title. The festa ends with a grand finale of fireworks and music. Truly a night to be remembered.
In August the Servigliano Paglio is a wonderful time. Over a week of processions, drumming and games ending with the competition of the Paglio itself. Where the four teams of horse and riders compete in jousting to hook rings and win the tournament.
