Sardinia's north west coast shelters the most attractive seaside resorts on the island, interspersed with some really spectacular coastline – from dramatic rugged cliffs to dazzling sandy beaches. Alghero is justifiably the most popular resort town in this area, with a distinctive Catalan character, quaint narrow streets and a charming harbour-front. With Castelsardo, further to the North another attractive old town, topped by a Medieval castle with spectacular views.
Inland from the sweeping cliffs and white sand bays of the coast, the north west of Sardinia is characterised by gentle rolling hills and vineyards; and outside of the bustle of Alghero the region has a very peaceful feel. In a typical day you can relax on a secluded beach, take a stroll in the macchia-scented hills and in the evening enjoy a wonderful Sardinian meal.
Stintino is a small fishing village on the north-west peninsula of Sardinia. The village has 2 ports of – Portu Mannu and Portu Minori: one mainly for the fishing boats and the other for pleasure craft.
You can book and take boat trips from here to the uninhabited Isola Asinara to the north, which is home to albino donkeys.
It is surrounded by beautiful beaches: La Pelosa to the north and La Saline to the south.
It is famous for it's annual Tuna Festival in June.
