Tranquil and In the heart of Perigordian country, food, wine, architecture, music and festivities!
Planche is an authentic 17 century farmhouse nestled into a sloping five acre field, overlooking an expansive forest with a balcony, a terrace, a patio, all outdoor dining and a pool. As well as a sheltered deck with tables by the pool, there are enchanting paths that meander into shaded areas with hammocks and a pergola all set in our nature reserve. Beautiful white sandy beach's and lake are less than ten miles away. It is a popular area for canoeing and cycling the sights! One kilometer from bakery, tobacconist, restaurant , shop and situated four miles from our market town Riberac. We have WiFi in the kitchen, living room and the downstairs cottage.
What is special about Planche is that our farmhouse is made up of two cottages and a stable conversion and although when you stay there you will be able to walk freely from one to the other you may also enjoy a little privacy as each dwelling has its own kitchen, shower room and TV lounge area. Most people use the farmhouse kitchen for all their meals and sit around the large dining table but there is no harm in making a sneaky morning coffee and croissant in your own space, in your own kitchen, eaten on your own out door dining space! Great for extended families or friends sharing.
On the top floor, one double bedroom with bathroom next door and one dormer/play room (en suite shower room), with bunk beds, king size bed and a very comfortable king size sofa bed. There is access between the rooms through a hall way and stairs down to the middle floor from the dorm and the hallway. Middle floor is two huge rooms kitchen and living room with a balcony. Access to below is from the kitchen down some stairs to a single bedroom with bunk beds and a sofa bed, this leads onto a kitchen living room that leads to shower room and a double bedroom. If you do not wish to disturb the the occupants of the single bedroom, there is an out door access to this cottage.
Our farmhouse is suitable for all aged children, however we have a balcony with gap under the balustrade that measures just over a toddlers head size. We also have a spiral staircase that has a balustrade with wide gaps. We do have two stair gates which can be fitted if asked for in advance.
The stair case in the living area is not suitable for people with compromised movement ability, they are narrow and have less than 6 foot to the ceiling on the top step so one must duck if you are a six footer! The other set of stairs are fine.

The region is popular for its gentle rural country side with no end of country lanes that will lead you back in time. The Dordogne and the Dronne rivers meander through our hills and valleys, plentiful for swimming, canoeing, fishing or for painting!
The local food is well sort after and we are the 'Foie gras' capital, there are many dishes that make your mouth water including the 'comfit de canard'.
The attractions are varied. There are the city attractions, music, architecture, lanes, markets, art and culture. Perigueux has a beautiful mime festival yearly in august... and more. Bergerac, Bordeaux, Perigueux, Angouleme, Brantonne are all wonderful places to visit.
Or just realize the local french way to relax, go swimming, lie on the numerous river beaches that all have restaurants and bars, the french are so good at this, great parks, parking, pic nic benches shaded areas, soak up the sun or explore nature, visit the village fetes like the' Marche de nuit' (all welcome), brocants (brico-brac markets), walk, cycle, stumble upon cafe's and churches..... The caves are also a favorite we are steeped in medieval history, (the caves about an hour away).
