The Devon region

There is nowhere in the world quite like Dartmoor National Park. And there is a so much more to Devon than the moors. Here are a few ideas to get your started.

April Cottage is perfectly situated for a walking or cycling holiday. As well as the endless possibilities offered to walkers and cyclists on the moors, we are close to the Tarka Trail, Drake's Trail, and the Tamar trails, not to mention the Two Moors Way. All offer miles of exploration along former (and traffic-free) railway lines and trails.

April Cottage is right on the road-based section of National Route 27 of the National Cycle Network.

The cyclingindevon.com website provides info on local cycle trails.

Over fifty road-based cycle routes on cycle-route.com.

The nearby Tamar Trails activity centre offers canoeing, bike-hire and tree-surfing. Yes, tree-surfing!

13th Century St Michael de Rupe Church, atop Brent Tor, makes a distinctive silhouette on the Dartmoor skyline. It is one of Devon's most famous landmarks and offers an unparalleled view of the western edge of Dartmoor.

Explore gardens: Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Garden House

And National Trust houses: Cotehele, Lanhydrock, Buckland Abbey.

Visit nearby market town Tavistock, with its pannier market and selection of artisan cheese and wine merchants.

Don't forget… You are only 45 minutes from the ocean!
