The Devon region

Nuthatch at Three Gates Farm is situated in the heart of the East Devonshire countryside, within easy reach of the North and South coasts, Exmoor, Dartmoor and the Somerset border.

There are several National Trust properties you could visit, such as Knightshayes and Killerton. You may wish to walk or hire bikes and cycle along the picturesque Grand Western Canal or take a leisurely trip on a horse drawn barge. Exmoor is well worth a visit, with its pretty towns and villages like Dulverton, Winsford and Dunster (don't miss the castle). There's plenty to do on the moor - visiting Tarr Steps or Wimbleball Lake, taking a safari, pony trekking, walking or cycling.

For a fun and interesting day out with the family, you could visit the World of Country Life, The Big Sheep, Powderham Castle, Crealy Great Adventure Park or ride little trains at the Devonshire Railway Centre.

If you enjoy pretty gardens, you could visit Escot, Bicton Park, RHS Garden Rosemoor or Hestercombe.

Our nearest beaches are Exmouth to the South and Minehead to the North (both about 45 minutes drive). A bit further afield are the beautiful sandy beaches of Croyde, Woolacombe, and Saunton to the North and to the South, the fascinating Jurassic Coast - spend a few hours fossil hunting at Lyme Regis. If near the south coast, you could pay a visit to the Donkey Sanctury, take a ride on the Seaton Trams or have fun at Pecorama.

There are plenty of attractive towns and villages to visit, where you can indulge in a Devon cream tea, such as Topsham, Beer, Sidmouth, Porlock, Lynton and Lynmouth. Exeter is well worth a visit for its cathedral, quays and shops.

We provide plenty more information in our cottage folders. The Tiverton Tourist Information Centre will also be able to provide further information on things to do and places to visit in the area (01884 255 827).
