Situated in Hawke's Bay on the North Island of New Zealand, Napier is the Art Deco Capital of New Zealand. After the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake the city rebuild and now has a unique concentration of 1930s Art Deco architecture. The climate is warm and relatively dry. The region has a lot of wineries, beautiful flat cyclepaths and nice beaches. At cape Kidnappers you can enjoy the Gannets and Te Mata Peak shows beautiful views across Hawke's Bay.
Every year in February there is the Mission Concert and also the famous Art Deco Weekend.
