Scopello has plenty of stores, cafes, icecream places and bakeries. Being a tiny village with few streets and only 45 permanent inhabitants. It is a lovely little village, a good base for excursions, an idyllic place for children to play under the stars, water trickling from the fountain, gelato eating and enjoing the wonderful food local restaurants can offer.
Scopello is close to Castellammare and on the north ovest part of Sicily. One of the most beautiful areas of the island.Sicily is great island full of History and archaeological sites for the many invasions.The weather is for most of the year temperate. From April to late October temperature range from 20 c° to 33 c°.Best period to come and visit is from April to November .Place of interest to visit are Zingaro Park , Segesta with thermal pool, San Vito lo Capo, Erice, Trapani, Saline di Trapani with the salt museum, Marsala and Mothia Island, Egadi Islands, Marsala for famous wine, Ustica island, Palermo, Monreale, Cefalù, Selinunte and Temple's valley of Agrigento. All these places are 30-50 kms from the villetta.
The village of Scopello, is a lovely and tiny village which overlooks the Faraglioni rock-stacks and the ancient Tonnara , 300 metres below and it is also close to the enchanting Nature reserve of Lo Zingaro. A 'charming atmosphere, involving, as the hospitality and the availability of Scopello. The traditional seafood, local specialties of the agricultural society, the ceramics of the local school, reviews the cultural element, take Diving lessons and visits nearby attractions (Trapani, Segesta, Erice, Palermo, etc..) Scopello is perhaps the more evocative and colourful place of the entire gulf of Castellammare. It is a small village risen at the end of the 18th century around the "baglio", on a previous arab country house. In the low-lying wonderful cove limited by the stacks and protected by old towers, there is the "tonnara" (thunny-fishing structure), The name of Scopello probably derives from the Greek "scopelos" (rock). At night is now a place to sit down in a cafe after dinner and enjoy the summer breeze!
Close is the 1.620 hectares of "Riserva dello Lo Zingaro" extend in one of the most evocative landscapes of Sicily and amazing beaches. It is the first natural reserve instituted in Sicily (6 May 1981), it is more than seven kilometers long and spreads along the coast. It is situated in one of the few still integral places in all the Island.
Segesta with the Greek ruins (temple and amphitheater) is only 20 km away.
Palermo and Trapani are beautiful cities to visit as well as the island like Favignana and Levanzo (ferry boat leaving from Trapani port).
