The South East England region

forge meadow holiday cottages are located in The Weald , whichis the name given to an area in South East England situated between the parallel chalk escarpments of the North and the South Downs. It crosses the counties of Sussex, Hampshire, Kent and Surrey. It should be regarded as three separate parts: the sandstone "High Weald" in the centre; the clay "Low Weald" periphery; and the Greensand Ridge which stretches around the north and west of the Weald and includes the Weald's highest points. The Weald was once a vast forest covering this area. The name, Old English in origin, signifies woodland, which still applies today: scattered farms and villages betray the Weald's past, often in their names.

This area of east sussex in south east england is quiet and beautiful , with a lot of wildlife almost on the cottages door step . Cowbeech in east sussex is a charming rural hamlet or small village with lovely footpaths and only about 20 miuntes drive of glyndebourne opera house . We are only 5 minutes drive from the castle of hurstmonceux and the observatory . We are also only about 20 minutes drive from the seaside , either at eastbourne or bexhill. There are many lovely old sussex pubs and restaraunts with micro breweries and beer being served . The grade II listed properties all around are also worth enjoying and some such as batemans are open to the public .
