Verbier is located in the Valais region of Switzerland in the heart of the Alps and is famous for its skiing, freeriding and mountains. The Swiss Alps are better known for their winter season and the Valais region must be one of the most famous. With views of Mont Blanc in one direction and the Matterhorn in the other, Verbier is well placed for some amazing views.
Located in the south-west of Switzerland, Valais borders onto both France and Italy which provides access to a number of smaller ski areas as well as the large resort of Verbier.
The Tour de France had one of its stages in 2009 and its summer walking, mountain-biking and parapenting are becoming as renowned as its winter season. The last two weeks of July host the Verbier Music Festival, one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in Europe.
