Palermo

Mondello is a small town near the city of Palermo in the autonomous region of Sicily in Southern Italy. The beach lies between two cliffs called Monte Gallo and Monte Pellegrino. The town was originally a small fishing village situated on marshland, but at the end of the 19th Century it grew into a center of tourism. The numerous Art Nouveau style villas on the seafront promenade made it one of the epicenters of this artistic movement.

Since 1985 Mondello is home to the World Windsurfing Festival, renamed in 2001 World Festival on the Beach, an annual event that brings together various sports events (windsurfing, sailing, kite, beach volleyball, etc..) and musical performances, transforming the town in Sicily in a village of great interest
