St. Jean de Cannes is located near the border between Var and Alpes Maritimes. Alpes Maritimes is famous for places such as Nice, Monaco, St Paul de Vence, Menton and Antibes. These popular places offer everything from local markets, great restaurants, "old-towns" to nightlife and museums.
Further inland, spectacular nature and breathtaking views are common place. Away from the hustle of the cities, you will find yourself in small villages and a more traditional way of life. Marineland with its famous killer whale show can be found in Antibes.
The Var is famous for its Mimosa, which is best viewed in spring. The Gorge du Verdun is about 1.5 hours drive from the Yellow House and offers one of the most spectacular views in France. For those who want to mingle with celebrities and stars, visit St Tropez, also about 1 hour drive away. Enjoy the harbour with the luxury yachts, or enjoy a cosy dinner in one of the many restaurants behind the boulevard.
Although St. Jean de Cannes belongs to Frejus, it is much closer to Mandelieu and La Napoule. Both villages offer extensive amenities, shops, restaurants and all sort of entertainment.
Frequent day and night markets selling fresh local produce and local art.
Nearby are also the villages Montauroux, Callian and Fayence. Each beautifully located on adjacent hilltops. Going there, one passes the Lac St Cassien, a beautiful lake for swimming, sailing and other watersport facilities, not to forget fishing!
During the months of July and August both villages are bustling with many annually recurring events and festivals. Saint Jean de Cannes itself is a small and quiet community with one store for essentials.
