Lorenzo Nottolini , celebrated court architect to the city of Lucca and responsible for the famous Lucca acqueduct ,lived at Villa Michaela and constructed our beautiful consecrated chapel seating 100 with a grand piano where we hold many weddings and music and opera recitals.

Villa Michaela is five minutes walk from the centre of the picturesque village of Vorno with the best butcher for miles around , a grocery shop and 2 family run trattorias ( Il Rio and Il Bimbotto . ) There are many other restaurants within 10 minutes drive- notably La Cecca at

Coselli ( written up by The Sunday Times as one of the best restaurants in Tuscany - pigeon risotto being a speciality) and Lo Scompiglio in Vorno which has wonderful views from it' s large terrace over vineyards towards the hills. The extensive market gardens in front of the restaurant are the source of all the delicious fresh produce served.

The villa is perfectly situated to explore the wonders of the Renaissance , the Leaning Tower and Duomo in Pisa, the wonders of Florence and Siena , wine and olive oil tasting in Chianti , boat trips around the Tuscan archipelago , Italian language and cooking lessons , hot air ballooning , golf at the fabulous Versilia course , thermal spa treatments at Montecatini Terme - children at Villa Michaela enjoy the snooker room , cinema and hikes up the hill to see our newly born goats - very efficient olive grove lawn mowers !
