Larnaca (also spelt Larnaka) is an area of outstanding beauty - endowed with numerous attractions, waterfronts and scenic vistas as well as some of the islands most outstanding beaches. It is located on Cyprus' southernmost coast and is the countries third largest city and home to the second largest commercial port. These buildings are now occupied by the Palaeontology museum, the Municipal Gallery of Modern Art, the City-Museum and Archives, the District Administration of Larnaca, which are considered historically important sites.
The Pierides Museum is one of the most important museums in Cyprus and home to preserved collections depicting Cypriot culture, right through the centuries. Its archaeological collection includes the Pierides Family House. The museum displays collections from the main periods of Cypriot history.
