A charming stone house with a private pool and large private garden
La Maison Pastorale provides an opportunity for an unforgettable family holiday combining the privacy of your own large private garden, its own full size swimming pool with some wonderful days and nights out. For keen swimmers there is also a wonderful swimming lake at Lougratte, a short drive from the house. Golf is also available nearby.
La Maison Pastorale is situated 35 minutes drive from Bergerac Airport in a charming private hamlet close to the Bastide towns of Villereal and Monflanquin with an excellent choice of restaurants and regular produce and night (dining) markets
The interior of the 3 bedroomed stone house is both charming , cool and eclectic - a combination of traditional stone walls and wooden beams with some contemporary furnishings. There is a lovely grand piano as well as TV, DVD player and a wide range of DVDs. WIFI is included. There is a newly installed shower room, two bathrooms and a well presented farmhouse kitchen with a table to seat 8, equipped with dishwasher, washing machine ,microwave, grill and range cooker. Crockery, cutlery , towels and bed linen are all provided. There is a BBQ on the dining terrace .
The Dordogne and Garonne rivers are each about 40 minutes drive away with opportunities to visit spectacular Chateaux or canoe or fish or simply relax with a picnic. There are numerous, well signposted, walks in the immediate vicinity or mountain bike trails through the nearby woods and fields of sunflowers and prune orchards.
Private fishing is potentially available locally at extra cost. The fireworks at Bergerac (35 minute drive) or horse Trotting at Villereal (and having a small flutter) are all recommended!
In the summer, there are frequent Vide Greniers (boot sales) and Brocantes (antique markets) where you can pick up a charming momento of your visit at bargain prices!
In addition to its own 10m x 5m pool (exclusively for the property) which features Roman steps and is fully alarmed the garden includes a good range of fitness equipment (including a rowing machine, weights, a boxing bag, a badmington net and paddling pool for tots).
In exchange for watering the herb garden you may pick herbs for your barbecue and light the lamps in the walnut tree by the terrace. There is an excellent range of supermarkets in the nearby Bastide towns as well as the weekly local produce markets .
Baby sitting by our housekeeper may be arrangeable with prior notice.

Lot et Garonne is a beautiful region of plum trees, sunflowers rivers and rolling hills in which lies to the south of the Dordogne river and north of the Lot River .
It is also notable for numerous 13th century bastide towns including Villereal, Monflanquin and Monpazier. All within a short drive of the house and featuring weekly produce markets, night markets with country dancing and Vide Grenier antique markets where you can still pick up a bargain
It can get very hot , occasionally interrupted by a spectacular thunderstorm and last year the pool got to over 30 degrees cent .
Apart from the markets, castles on the dordogne, local restaurants canoeing , cycling and walking there is alos the local horseracing to keep you occupied . Or just laze by the pool and plan the evenings barbecue.
For musicians we have my lovely grand piano and accordion .
Monflanquin, Monpazier and Villereal are the nearest towns .. each with plenty of restaurants, supermarkets and each with a lovely and distinctive market square
