A spacious 3 bedroom house with a dual aspect terrace it has patio dining furniture for 6 a built in BBQ and a beautiful view to the village of Carlux. The sun terrace looks across the gardens to the pool and has 4 sunbeds and a parasol.

The ground floor comprises a large comfortable living/dining area suitable for 6 people with French doors onto the terrace and an enclosed log fire. There is Wi-Fi and a dvd player with some dvd's. The kitchen is fully equipped for 6 people it has a 4 burner gas hob, free standing electric oven, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is an iron, ironing board and clothes airer, the site manager offers a laundry service for a small charge. The double bedroom has fitted wardrobes and doors leading to the terrace. It is located next to the bathroom with bath, shower, wc and basin.

Stairs to the 1st floor have child safety gates. The spacious1st floor family bedroom has twin beds, a single bed, travel cot and high chair. A fold down bed is available on request. The mezzanine gallery has a sofa bed and easy chair and a small library of English language books. It leads to the smaller bedroom which has a single bed. The 1st floor shower room is accessed through the single bedroom and has a shower cubicle, wc and basin.

Outside there is parking in the drive for one car providing easy unloading. The gite is located on a private well maintained wooded site with a badminton court, boules court, table tennis, table football and three children's playgrounds for various ages. The pool is enclosed and gated for safety and is open May- Sept, heated mid-May till mid-Sept. The site manager and on site staff are very helpful and English speaking.

The village is an 8 minute walk through a pretty woodland path or a 2 minute drive. It offers a doctor, dentist, post office, butcher, grocer, and the baker is open in the morning, there is a good simple bar/restaurant and a rustic restaurant with children's menus. The pizza van calls every Thurs evening. The gourmet Hostellerie de Bequignolle is a 5 minute walk from the gite and is one of the best restaurants in an area renowned for its excellent cuisine.

Dahlia is at the heart of all the principle tourist sites of Lot and Dordogne - Beynac, Castlenaud, Sarlat, Lascaux, Rocamador, Domme and La Roc Gageac. In an area of outstanding beauty that offers many leisure pursuits - walking, cycling, canoeing and kayaking, photography, fishing, birdwatching, tennis and golf. There are plenty theme parks to keep the children amused and markets in the local villages for every day of the week with Sarlat being the largest. Fetes and concerts are held in the village throughout the summer season.

Dahlia in Les Gites de Carlux close to the medieval village of Carlux and located 2km from the Dordogne river, manages to achieve the impossible - a rural retreat in the heart of one of Europe's leading tourist areas. It is an ideal base from which to explore the Dordogne. Whether your interest is in natural beauty, exploring prehistoric caves, medieval warfare, fairytale chateaux, gastronomic delights or just relaxing, the locality of Dahlia is ideal.

The region boasts some of the finest cuisine in France. It is a major production centre for walnuts and soft fruits and its forests supply mushroom and truffles. It is also renowned as the home of foie gras and with the vineyards of Bordeaux, Bergerac and Cahors within close proximity Dahlia makes for a perfect holiday destination.

Dahlia is located in Les Gites de Carlux, a 1.5 hectare site of 12 privately owned gites overlooking the village of Carlux. The site is surrounded on two sides by woods and enjoys a spectacular view over the village, it is the perfect rural retreat. The complex has it's own private heated swimming pool (12 x 6 metres) paddling pool and sun terrace with sunbeds.


Carlux is situated at the heart of Lot and the Dordogne with the beautiful bustling medieval town of Sarlat just 7km away. There are good basic shops in the village but the main shopping centre is to be found at Souillac another medieval town which offers supermarkets, banks, post office and a vigneron selling superb wines and Armagnac or vin ordinaire pumped directly from the barrel. There is an excellent Friday morning market and an 18 course golf club is at Souillac Country Club - visitors welcome. There are many theme parks to keep the children amused- Aqua park in Souillac - the Ariel park on the road to Sarlat- the Dinosaur park near Rocamador are just a few. The nearby towns of Domme, Rocamador, Beynac, Castlenaud. La Roc Gageac along with many others are all towns of outstanding beauty. Sarlat is the jewel of the region with the old town restored to its former medieval splendour. It has a busy market on Wed and Sat and many exciting shops and restaurants. After six years we are still discovering the hidden delights of the Dordogne valley.
