Further details outdoors

The site is very large - approx 1000 sq.m and is not overlooked by any development other than its three immediate neighbours. Externally a wooden table and six padded chairs sit under the pergola, and by the pool four sun loungers, two padded deck chairs and a parasol are provided. The private solar heated pool is 4m x 8m and is 1.4 m deep, being situated on a large tiled patio area in front of the villa.

Further details

Being just outside the village, the site is serene and quiet, situated well off the main road. It is best to have a hire car, since the villa is about a mile from the village centre and the beach, and although it can be walked in 25 minutes, it is not an easy walk in the heat of Summer. Being a large gated site and having a surrounding wall, the site is very suitable for children. But we would advise caution that small children and non-swimmers should be carefully supervised around the pool. There is level access downstairs to the patio and swimming pool. The living room with its sofa bed, kitchen, dining room all have level access direct from the pergola via the patio doors. The downstairs shower/wc is down two steps. No smoking is allowed inside the villa and pets are not allowed.

The Dodecanese region

Rhodes is a charming, historic island with lots to see and do. The city of Rhodes is a world heritage site, with winding medieval streets to explore lined with welcoming tavernas and plenty to amuse the shopaholics.

The main tourist season is from May to October and temperatures peak into the 40s during the peak season, But even in late October temperatures are in the upper 20s and the sea is still warm for swimming. There are numerous boat trips to other Greek islands and the Turkish mainland operating from the historic harbour in Rhodes.

Gennadi

Villa Artemis is two minutes drive from the blue flag beach and the centre of Gennadi village. 20 minutes drive away is the renowned water sports beach of Prassonissi, which has excellent wind surfing and kite surfing due to the prevailing breezes. In Gennadi itself there are numerous bars, tavernas, shops, a cash point, pharmacy, bus stop and internet cafes, in fact pretty much everything you need is here.

The local bakery provides fresh bread and delicious cakes daily, while the green grocer sells wonderful fresh salad, fruit and vegetables. There is also an excellent small supermarket and a quaint village church, St. John Theologos. On the beach there are several tavernas offering a good selection of local and international dishes, or you can just pop in for a quick coffee or a beer. The village itself has several good eateries including Big Mamas kitchen, which is very friendly and serves excellent food.

Just up the coast there are sandy beaches with chillout lounges at Kiotari, and a further 15 minutes on is the beautiful ancient city of Lindos with its castle and acropolis. There are some lovely shops and restaurants to explore in the narrow white washed streets. Further afield on the West coast, the castle at Monolithos is perched on a rock over some steep cliffs, is atmospheric and well worth a visit. The drive up the Western coast is lovely and you can also visit the ruined castle at Kastello near Kritinia.

And no visit to Rhodes would be complete without a visit to Rhodes old town. The cobbled medieval streets contain many artisan shops, cafes, mosques, minarets, museums and tavernas hidden in its maze of back streets, just behind the main tourist strip. Families will love a day out at the water park just outside Faliraki.
