Located in the Upper Tiber Valley, 22km from Città di Castello and Umbertide, less than an hour from Arrezo and Perugia, Carpina is perfect for relaxing, get away from it all breaks, for walking or mountain biking and as a base from which to visit the many beautiful hilltowns of the area. Spring and summer evenings can be pretty special, with fireflies, owls, and the frog chorus from the lake. April and May are glorious with the chalet surrounded by yellow meadow flowers and juniper bushes amongst trees in a million shades of green while Autumn mornings often find Carpina bathed in sunshine while the valley below remains shrouded in mist.

It is close to Lake Trasimeno and Castiglione di Lago, as wel as to Cortona and Castiglon Fiorentino.

Carpina itself is located at 500m. altitude above the Nestor valley, close to Morra (on the old road connecting Città di Castello to Castiglion Fiorentino), 10 km from Trestina, 22km from Città di Castello and Umbertide, 1 hour from Arezzo and Perugia and 2 hrs from Florence. Wild animals such as wild boar, deer, porcupine, hares and owls may be seen and/or heard, with luck and a little patience, at dawn or dusk on the road and track to the chalet or, occasionally, around the chalet itself at night.

The are is great for walking, relaxing and getting away from it all. Plums, cherries, walnuts, hazelnuts, chestnuts and mushrooms are all at hand, according to the season. There are many tracks suitable for mountain biking, but fitness is required if cycling back up to the chalet from the valleys below.
