Home description
Newly available for Summer 2009, Anvil Cottage is a special place for a magical and memorable holiday in rural North Antrim. The Giant's Causeway,a famous world heritage site noted for its basalt rock formation, outstanding natural beauty and many myths and legends, is only a few miles away as is Ireland's oldest distillery which opened at Bushmills in1608. The cottage is perfectly situated for day tripping to Donegal, Londonderry, the stunning 9 Glens of Antrim or Belfast.
The main shopping town of Coleraine (8 miles away) offers the usual amenities and attractions for the shopaholic while the local towns of Ballymoney and Dervock provide convenience and charm for relaxed sightseeing and affordable eating out .The popular holiday resort of Portrush is less than10 minutes drive away, with family attractions including, one of the best beaches and dunes systems in Ireland, Waterworld, boating/fishing, bowling, aquarium, amusement park, top class restaurants and the famous (and affordable) Royal Portrush championship golf course. The local Gracehill course which offers a quick 18 holes is just 2/3 mins by car.
Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, Dunluce Castle and the superb White Rocks beach are also all about 10 mins away. Local sporting activities include the infamous North West 200 motor cycle race, the world renowned youth football annual Milk Cup Trophy and the Senior's British Open hosted by Royal Portrush. The ever popular Ould Lammas Fair in Ballycastle is only 10 mins by car, so pop down and rummage through the variety of stalls, take in the Irish music flowing out of every pub, sample a pint of the black stuff or even buy a horse from the street auctions! Your energy and imagination are the only limitations to the fun and excitement you can enjoy whilst staying at the Anvil Cottage.

The County Antrim region
This is the heartland of the unspoilt North Coast, home of the giant Finn McCool, Dunluce Castle and Bushmills Distillery. The Anvil Cottage is close to major surfing beaches on the North Antrim Coast such as White Rocks Beach, Portrush West and East Strands and White Park Bay. It is also close to Ballycastle where you can catch a boat to Rathlin Island, popular with bird watchers, geologists, botanists, deep sea divers and sea anglers. July/ August is generally bright and pleasant without becoming unbearably hot and in Autumn/Winter you can experience the crisp coolness of the most northerly aspect of Ireland and the awesome power of the coastal swells before returning to a roaring open fire in Anvil Cottage to recover with a hot toddie and hot toasted soda bread.
Dervock area
The area hosts the British Open Seniors at Royal Portrush, the North West Motor Cycle race and the Milk Cup International Football Tournament. The Ould Lammas Fair is an annual favourite as is the Portrush Air show.
