Pear Tree House is a spacious modern villa on the West Coast of Barbados. Designed by the Italian architect Francesco Draisci it utilises the natural ventilation of the prevailing winds to provide a cool and light interior. It has extensive outside terraces, pool and garden.

There is a 10m x 5 m swimming pool which is fully tiled in blue mosaics. It is the latest salt water pool which uses almost no chlorine to purify the water for a natural feeling swim. It has a South terrace at the end for sun bathing with shady trees at the side.

There are two further terraces, one large fully covered area off the kitchen/diner which leads down to the swiming pool and one shaded space of the living room great for quiet relaxing,reading etc.

The house itself is very spacious-350m- and is designed as an open plan house. It is zoned as a large family/kitchen/dining space which then leads into a sitting/media/entertaining area.

The guest suite with double bed and bathroom is also on the ground floor with its own front door allowing guests to have some independence.

Upstairs is a large master suite with walk in wardrobe and en-suite wet room. This bedroom has windows and ventilation on 3 sides giving a feeling of being "in the treetops".

There are a further 3 bedrooms currently configured as one double, one twin and a twin childrens room. These share the family bathroom which has a bath with shower over and three washbasins.

The house is fully furnished with large beds, plenty of seating inside and out, two dining tables. There is a washing machine,dryer,dishwasher etc.

The house is located right in the heart of the West Coast 5 minutes walk from the beach. There are several good restaurants nearby- The Cliff, Daphne's, Scarlets etc. Or you can walk to the Fish Market at Payne's Bay and buy today's catch; there is a farmer's market at Holders Hill about 1/2 mile away every Sunday.

The house offers a really relaxed, simple space for a fantastic family holiday and is easily large enough to fit extended families or two families as the living areas are so big. We also offer a very good value price for parties of 7 or under.

It is the perfect place to base a holiday to explore the island, or just to wind down and wander to the beach to swim in the warm Caribbean sea. The local beaches are have white sand and are very safe for children. You will find plenty of restaurants and watersports in walking distance or you can go further along the coast to explore.

The weather is hot all year round and the summer holidays are becoming increasingly popular, as well as the established Winter season.

We are offering the house for rent at a very reasonable rate as this is the first year of rental and we hope to establish it as a place where people will want to return to.

The Saint James Parish region

Barbados offers year round sun, beautiful white sand beaches and a relaxed atmosphere.

It has been a sought after Winter sun destination for the rich and famous for many years. It is now becoming a year round holiday spot as the summer offers great weather and is much less crowded than European resorts.

The island has a classic Caribbean feel with Palm trees, beach bars, outside eating, warm seas and friendly people. Barbados is known as one of the safer islands with very low crime and availability of modern services, medicine, banking etc. The population have a reputation for being polite and well educated and the "hassle" factor is not prevalent.

The atmosphere remains relaxed, but there are activities such as Polo, golf, tennis, surfing, kite surfing, paddle boarding etc.

There tend to be a lot of return visitors who come back for their yearly Barbados holiday. There have always been close links to the UK and tourists are welcomed throughout the island.


The house is in Payne's Bay on the West Coast of Barbados.

It is a 5 minute walk from the beach which has very good swimming and soft white sand.

It is on a small local road opposite "The Cliff" restaurant, possibly the best restaurant on the island. Also within walking distance are Daphne's, Scarletts, Mr.Vic's, Cariba. There are always Rum Shops to be found if you like to lime and soak up some local atmosphere.

The local area is very safe and has a good mix of tourists and Bajans. You will find all the facilities you need easily- taxis, car hire, water sports etc- and you also get a good bit of local flavour as it is a relaxed easy going locale.

8 minutes drive away is Holetown with supermarkets, many restaurants, bars and shops. Limegrove centre has a plush new cinema and all the high end shopping.

Also the Payne's Bay fish market is 5 minutes walk for truly fresh fish and there is a farmer's market at Holders Hill on Sunday mornings.

Sandy Lane beach and hotel is 5 minutes drive. Polo at Holders is also very close.

There is golf locally at Sandy Lane or 15 minutes drive to Royal Westmoreland.

Surfing and Kitesurfing is on the South East coast about 30 minutes drive,

"Great spacious modern house"

"Very disappointed should have been a trip of a lifetime for my elderly mother but the house was very disappointing."

When we pulled up outside the property there was a damaged pick up truck which was not exactly what you expect to see and from there in the disappointment began. The outside pathway was non existent … More

We are sorry that your trip did not meet your expectations.
The house has free wireless broadband. It was down for some of your stay while we waited for the phone company to repair, which was frustrating.
There is a dvd drive in the iMac which should have been pointed out to you. We have now put a separate dvd player with the TV.
We gave you our 2 bedroom air conditioned apartment for free in addition to the house to assist with accomodating your mother. We are disappointed that you did not choose to mention this in your review.
We are mystified why you find the photos misleading. They are all recent photos of the house and furnishings. The house is professionally cleaned between each guest and is immaculate.The furniture is modern and simple.We have recently (August 2014) bought new beds, chairs and linens as we look to constantly improve in our first year of letting.
Almost all our guests enjoy their holiday for a great price in the house which is large, well located, very clean and has a beautiful pool.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear of your difficulties and unfortunately a number of minor problems all occured on your visit. We tried to respond as quickly as possible in each cade.
The DVD and monitor I had put in the apartment and we would of course have put back had we realised. The corkscrew and can opener were missing and we would of course have brought you one if we had known. There is a new DVD player, can opener andd corkscrew in the house (August 2014).
The pool is brand new and lit by LED lights at night which look attractive. We will look to move the switch to a more convenient place in future.
The sofa bed was clearly uncomfortable for you and I apologise for that. We have shipped a set of twin beds from the UK to arrive Sept 2014.
The bunk beds are advertised as childrens beds and we have put a new fan in that room as you found it hot.
The washing machine was replaced when you were there leaving the house without a machine for four days. During this time the house manager took your laundry home washed, drief and folded it and brought it back for free. I thought his was a good temporary solution and I am sorry you feel this is a reason for complaint.
The house is professionally cleaned between each guest. Clearly the ongoing clesning did not work for you. The cleaner had stated she spent her time collecting all the glasses and washing up piles of dirty dishes, picking up all the towels left on the floor etc. There is perhaps a perception that this is a hotel or guest house when it is a self service villa. The house manager now checks that she changed the sheets twice a week and cleans once a week .
The doors were fixed on your last day and I apologise if not enough notice was given.

Overall we have noted all your points and tried to resolve them and we are looking to constantly improve the house and furnishings.
