About the home

Looking for something quite different? Buscarro is an exceptional property in a fabulous location just outside Denia town. It has a lovely secluded setting, being surrounded by orange groves, yet is very close to the area's best sandy beaches, bars and excellent restaurants. The extensive private tropical gardens and unusually-designed boomerang-shaped pool create an environment found in few other rental properties.

Within the grounds there are various open and shady terraces for daytime lounging, rooftop terrace for evening cocktails, lawns, orange/lemon grove, colourful bougainvillea, almond/pomegranate/olive/fig and other fruit trees, and many palm trees of different types. Cacti and other succulents abound. The views across to the mountains are spectacular. Most visitors find it hard to tear themselves away whilst staying here!

The accommodation consists of a substantial 3-bed country-style villa (El Buscarro), with a separate studio apartment above, and across the pool a 2-bed stone cottage (the Casita) which is roomy and full of character. Each of the three is self-contained. There are 4 outside dining areas in total (1 rooftop, 1 poolside, 2 terraces with awnings). Teenagers love the separate studio. The entire property can accommodate 2 or 3 families holidaying together, a family with grandparents joining them, or a large group looking for something unusual to accommodate everyone. Facilities

El Buscarro and the Casita both offer self-contained facilities on one level. Each has lounge with beamed ceiling (with sofas/TV/DVD/CD/MP3 port), large kitchen and dining areas indoor and outdoor (incl. awnings). El Buscarro's kitchen and bathrooms are new and modern. The studio has a small kitchenette.

Spacious Spanish character has been retained throughout, with stone features, traditional wooden doors and beams. Winter lets can have log fires in the main house. We include games/books for guests' use.

12 is the maximum number of adults accommodated, but there is a fold-away bed available for an extra child in 1 of the double bedrooms. High chair and cot are arranged by advanced request. There are bedside units in all bedrooms and the Casita and studio have both air con and bedroom fans. El Buscarro has been designed for cool throughout even the warmest times and in addition has bedroom fans. All windows have insect screening.

El Buscarro offers a large family bathroom (containing both a freestanding shower facility and a bath), a separate toilet room with sink, and the master bedroom has a uniquely designed walk-in 'dressing area' and follow-through en suite with walk-in shower. The studio has its own bathroom with shower. The family-size Casita bathroom contains freestanding shower and bath and also has optional en-suite access from the master bedroom.

There are various terraces outside the properties and around the pool, providing both sunny and shady outdoor dining, relaxation areas and sunbathing. We request smoking outside. There is a poolside shower and a large freestanding traditional Spanish BBQ complete with stone/marble table and chairs offering poolside dining close to the BBQ . In the 'pool room' there are pool/beach toys and garden games, and outside there are many sunbeds/cushions/garden chairs and parasols all for our guests' use. Please bring towels for outside use by the pool and on the beach.

Our extensive tropical gardens and unique pool provide a setting that is very special for a private rental property. Children love exploring the grounds, finding dens and hiding places. The grounds are watered 2/3 times a week by sprinklers and water pipes to keep them lush in the Spanish sunshine. At different times of the year you may be able to pick fresh from the trees: almonds, figs, olives, pomegranates, clementines, and of course oranges and lemons for home-made orangeade and lemonade.

There is electric gate entry into the grounds and a shady parking area for a number of vehicles. Families with small children will find the property secure.

The studio apartment has its own entrance and is located above the main house. Off the casita is a courtyard filled with bourgainvillea and other colourful succulents. From here there are spiral stairs to the rooftop terrace and wonderful views.

In the evening there is attractive lighting to the pool and across the grounds.

Guide/Restaurants/Bars/Shops

There are literally hundreds of quality restaurants in and around Denia, ranging from very exclusive ones to excellent good-value establishments offering daily set menus. Nearby, there are sunset restaurants set right on the beach that are suitable for families, allowing parents to relax while children play on the beach in front. There are also ice-cream parlours here, internet/WIFI, bars, and various shops including a chemist and a newsagent/baker . In the town there are numerous traditional tapas bars.

Denia has a thriving and sophisticated late night bar scene in town at weekends, and particularly out on the new marina all week during the Summer months.

El Buscarro & pool

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region

Take a leisurely trip to the Jalon Valley and stop for lunch at one of the many Spanish villages, or go on a day's outing to Guadalest village/fortress with a refreshing dip in the Fonts D'Algar pools and waterfalls and a spectacular mountain drive back, or visit the area's coastal headlands for wonderful views, sheltered coves and snorkelling. If you're active, you may want to climb Montgo mountain. For families looking for activities beyond the beaches and the pool there is a Safari Park, Terra Mitica Theme Park and Aqualandia Water Park, all within 30-45 minutes drive from the villa. For golfers, there's a rich selection of courses nearby including the renowned La Sella course only 10 minutes drive away, plus large clubs at Javea and Calpe. Denia's Tennis Club is close-by. Try horse-riding or biking through the orange groves nearby. For sea-fishing there are numerous possibilities. And of course there are all the beach sports to hand: volleyball, jet skis, diving, snorkelling, boating, surfing, windsurfing and quad biking.

The Denia area

Denia is a beautiful typically Spanish coastal town situated between Valencia and Alicante, and is made picturesque by its setting at the base of Montgo mountain, with its own 'ramblas' style main street, castle and quaint old town opposite the harbour. In contrast to much of Spain, the area has a lush feel to it due to the orange groves that surround the town. Frequently quoted as having the most ideal climate in Europe, with pleasant cool sea-breezes during Summer afternoons, it has a thriving fishing port, boat trips along the coast and daily ferries to Ibiza/Majorca. During summer evenings the harbour area restaurants buzz and there is a nightly street market. There are many excellent quality shops and some of the best of the area's hundreds of restaurants are at the new marina. One of the joys all year round is taking a long stroll all along the beach to Denia harbour. This golden sandy beach retains an unspoilt nature, is ideal for children, and sunsets can be specular.

Denia's claim to fame is having the most fiestas in Spain. We hope you'll be lucky to catch one, whether its bull-running or one of the many processions through the town's main streets. Check with the Tourist Information Office.

From either Alicante or Valencia its one hour's drive. Take junction 62 of the A7/E15 Autopista for Denia and the villa is only 5 minutes away from here following signs for Denia's main beaches at Les Marines/Las Marinas. Buscarro is in a wonderful private location directly down the lane from the lovely Las Brisas restaurants, bars and gently shelving wide sandy beach.

Rental prices include electricity, water, heating, bedding and bed linen, towels (except pool/beach towels) and all the normally required crockery/pans/glasses/cutlery etc for dining and for the kitchen. We also supply some tea/coffee/sugar/milk/water/condiments/cleaning products to help new arrivals get started. The owner pays for the pool and garden to be maintained weekly.

Cheap airlines' flight prices are significantly higher at weekends. Consequently most of our guests, particularly those returning for a second or third time, request midweek to midweek rentals. Most of our bookings are therefore for midweek arrivals, but we are completely flexible.

A 25% deposit is payable to secure the reservation, with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival, together with a refundable 650 euros (£550) damages deposit. Renters are responsible for organising their own personal travel insurance to cover cancellation, injury, loss, damage etc. Renters cannot re-let or sublet to any other party. Any extra days to weekly hires are charged pro-rata prevailing weekly rates.

To cover cleaning, washing and preparation for each rental there is a charge of 110 euros (£90) for El Buscarro, 80 euros (£65) for the Casita and 35 euros (£25) for the studio.

In low season, winter utilities are charged as used, however special rental rates are available for longer lets in low season.........email us for details.

For late arrivals, we can arrange a shopping welcome pack on request.
