The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
The Costa Blanca enjoys a wonderful climate all year round and is delightful between Spring and Autumn when the weather is most likely to be sunny and warm most of the time. The temperature can get up to 104°F (40°C) in July and August, with the sea at a very comfortable 77°F (25°C) and it is at this time that the villa benefits most from the gentle breezes of its mountainside location. Many visitors like to come out over the winter months when it is cooler but still sunny.
The Costa Blanca is famous for its miles of beaches. Golf is also a big attraction and the world-renowned courses of La Sella and Oliva Nova are within 10 minutes' drive. In all there are some 20 courses within an hour's drive from the villa.
Beyond the beaches of the Costa Blanca and nestling amongst the mountains, the Jalon Valley is the main wine-growing area. The bodegas in the Jalon are open from Monday to Saturday where guided tours can be arranged and wine can be purchased from the barrel. Guadalest is a typical town, founded by the Moors with its legendary Castle Fortress and reservoir. Fonts del Algar has renowned springs and a waterfall.
Calpe, with its spectacular Penon D'Ifach, has a golden, sandy beach each side of this craggy rock and another in its fishing port area. The fish restaurants serve the daily catch and should not be missed. Benidorm. has an excellent selection of shops, the water park of Aqualandia and the theme park of Terra Mitica. The Benidorm Palace which has the largest stage in Europe and the best cabaret dancers perform here. Its jubilee show has illusionists, acrobats and a spectacular laser show plus a 4 course meal with wine and champagne for around £35. Many international acts like the Rolling Stones and Elton John have included Benidorm in their tours.
Denia / Monte Pego area
Monte Pego has its own onsite facilities including tennis and paddle courts, banks, bars and restaurants. There are also numerous supermarkets, banks and restaurants and a weekly market in the nearby town of Pego a 5 -10 minute drive away. The closest beaches to the villa are at Las Marinas, on the way to Denia and are sandy with gently shelving shallow water. In the summer this stretch of beach is backed by numerous bars and restaurants as well as play areas for the children. Showers and toilet facilities are also available. However, solitude is guaranteed just 10 minutes further north.
Just a 5 minute stroll away from the villa is the Bella Vista Aparthotel. It has restaurant and pool bar available to non residents, and other facilities can be used at a nominal charge. Or simply relax at the villa and dine 'al fresco' whilst enjoying the scenic view over mountains and the Mediterranean.
It is definitely worth taking a breath-taking drive inland through the mountains or visit a 'Bodega' to sample the rich local wines and restaurants or coast-wards for lively bars and nightlife. The sophisticated shopping centre of Gandia, 20 minutes to the north, is where fashion and leather goods will tempt everyone, then perhaps try lunch in some of the best Tapas bars in Spain.
Denia itself is an attractive castle town set in an area once described by the World Health Organisation as "one of the healthiest living environments in the world". The town has a wealth of good quality shops, bars and restaurants offering a wide range of international and Spanish cuisine. There are regular local fiestas when the town bursts into a riot of music, fireworks and spectacular street parades. There's the busy seafront, with its many bars and nightlife, and the bustling fishing and ferry port, where you can catch a boat to any of the Balearic Islands. The town is backed by the Montgo Mountain to the west.
Apart from the Monte Pego onsite facilities, there are numerous supermarkets, banks and restaurants all within a 5 -10 minute drive. There are many excellent beaches nearby which make the villas an ideal location for a family holiday. Down the road is a Safari park or within 45 minutes drive to Benidorm where there are a variety of theme parks including, Terra Mitica, Aqualandia, Mundomar and Terra Natura. Try a breath-taking drive inland through the mountains or head coast-wards for lively bars and nightlife.
