The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
The Costa Blanca with its ragged mountainous interior and miles of glorious sandy beaches and subtropical vegetation is one of the most attractive and popular regions of Spain for visitors.
VALENCIA is one of the most beautifull cities in Mediterranean Spain.
Valencia was founded as a Roman colony in 138 BC. The city is situated on the banks of the Turia, on the east coast of the Iberian peninsula, fronting the Gulf of Valencia of Mediterranean Sea. Its historic center is one of the largest in Spain, with approximately 169 acres. This heritage of ancient monuments, diverse scenic sites and cultural attractions makes Valencia one of the country's most popular tourist destinations for Spaniards and world travelers alike.
Among its most representative monuments are the Valencia Cathedral, the Torres de Serranos, the Torres de Quart, the Llotja de la Seda (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996), and the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències (City of Arts and Sciences), an entertainment-based cultural and architectural complex designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela. The Museu de Belles Arts de València houses a large collection of paintings from the 14th-18th centuries, including works by Velázquez, El Greco, and Goya, also an important series of engravings by Piranesi. The Institut Valencià d'Art Modern (Valencian Institute of Modern Art) offers both permanent collections and temporary exhibitions of contemporary art and photography
The Denia / Monte Pego area
The town of DENIA is located in the Spanish region of Alicante on the Costa Blanca. This is a delightful cosmopolitan town, rich in history and culture and its streets are a fascinating showcase of architecture through the ages. Its buildings are a permanent monument to the civilisations which have made their mark here - Iberian, Carthaginian, Roman, Arab and Christian. These days tourism blends comfortably with the hustle and bustle of a working town.
It boasts modern supermarkets, an extraordinary number of banks, some top quality shops, tax consultants, lawyers, doctors, dentists, the area's biggest hospitals and the courts of justice.
The old fishermen's quarter preserves its delightful cobbled streets and whitewashed buildings but nearby you'll find a modern yacht marina and the ferry terminal serving the Balearic Islands of Ibiza, Menorca, Mallorca and Formentera.
Denia's focal point is its impressive 16th century castle which dominates the town from a height of 58 metres. You can park on the outskirts of the town and walk through a tunnel under the castle into the main shopping centre.
Head for the main central street, Calle Marques de Campo, named after the Marquis of Denia who used to reside in the castle. This is a wonderful place to sit and people watch - a Parisian-style tree lined avenue peppered with street cafes on both sides.
Shopping in Denia is a sheer delight. Besides offering all the high street essentials, there are some top of the range clothes shops with designer wear for both men and women and beautiful gift shops specialising in the unusual and exquisite.
A myriad of restaurants offers some of the best regional and international cuisine on the Costa Blanca. There are some great tapas bars, seafood restaurants with a mouth watering selection of produce fresh from local waters, Indonesian, Mexican, Italian and Greek restaurants.
As for the beaches, they stretch for 20 kilometres either side of Denia and consistently win the European Blue Flag for safety and cleanliness.
MONTEPEGO is a prestigious development of privately owned villas, near to both beaches and spectacular mountains and valleys full of orange, lemon and almond groves. This is traditional Spain, perfect for those who enjoy relaxing or sight seeing and visiting the weekly local village markets and also the nearby antique and flea markets. Monte Pego is located in an area recognised by the World Health Organisation as one of the most ideal areas for local climate and quality of life.
CASA VENTURA is within reasonable travelling distance to attractins such as a large fun park, a water park, golf courses and hiking trails in the mountainous Montgo Natural Park with its wonderful vistas overlooking Denia and the northern costa blanca. Or visit the inland villages along the Orba and Jalon valleys in the mountains.
There is a bar/restaurant within walking distance.
