La Fontana is situated just outside the town of Dénia on the east coast of Spain, halfway between Alicante and Valencia with miles of sandy beaches. This is not the standard and basic offering that you will find with most holiday apartments.

Why? Because we live in La Fontana part-time, so we can offer you a fully furnished apartment with all the amenities you would expect in your own home: books, DVDs, a fully equipped kitchen, telephone, computer and many more.

We purchased the apartment in 2005 and just about everything (bar two tables and four chairs) has been replaced since then. All the beds were purchased in 2007, whilst bedding and towels are replaced every year.

The property is on the first floor and is fully air conditioned, has two bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen and a good size balcony with a table and chairs plus two loungers overlooking the pool.

The apartment will comfortably sleep four: the master bedroom, with a view over the pools and garden, has a new king size bed with two bedside tables and an alarm clock. The bedroom also has a wall-mounted TV and DVD-video player. The second bedroom has two single nested beds which save space in the room for daytime use. Both bedrooms have a large amount of wardrobe space.

The lounge and balcony extension are very bright rooms; the balcony faces south and so gets the sun for most of the day. The lounge has a sofa and an easy chair plus four folding chairs. It is equipped with a TV, DVD player (with a small selection of DVD films), and a radio/CD player with a connection for MP3 players. Please feel free to bring your own music and films!

The kitchen is well equipped including a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave oven, kettle, toaster, cutlery, plates, cups and glasses. There are plenty of pots and pans as well as a full set of kitchen utensils to allow you to cook full meals in the apartment, if you wish. A washing machine is provided in the bathroom.

The apartment also has a telephone, desktop computer and broadband, all of which are included in the price. We also have Wi-fi, so if you wish to bring your own laptop, please let us know in advance and we will provide you with the access code before your arrival.

Further details outdoors

The Fontana complex was completed in 2000 and comprises 85 apartments in five buildings, all overlooking the central garden and pool area. This area comprises three swimming pools and well-kept gardens, including both sunny and shaded areas.

Of the three pools, one is specifically for children and the largest is a deep pool for adults. There are also showers by the pool so you can rinse yourself before going for a swim. The central pool has a large fountain giving the complex its name "La Fontana". From the apartment, access to the pool area takes about one minute.

Dedicated covered parking is provided for one car a few steps away from the entrance to the apartment and there is a lift for easy access when carrying luggage or pushchairs.

Outside the conveniently situated pedestrian entrance to the complex are the bins and recycling points (bins are emptied daily).

Behind the complex are orange groves with uninterrupted views to the hills of the La Sella development a few miles away.

All rates are fully inclusive. The only additional payment is a refundable security deposit of €200 against any breakages or damage to the property and this is refunded once our agent has inspected the property on your departure.

All prices quoted in Euro and are subject to £/€ exchange rate fluctuations. Price at time of booking is then fixed.

We are able to accept credit card bookings via PayPal. There is a 4% handling charge for transactions of this type (levied by PayPal) however, we will share the cost. Therefore, payments by credit card will have an additional 2% added to the published rates.

A deposit of 20% is required to book the apartment, with the balance payable eight weeks prior to your holiday.

The Costa Blanca/Valencia region

The Costa Blanca stretches from Dénia in the north to Torrevieja in the south on the eastern coast of Spain.

The resorts of the Costa Blanca vary from the bustling high-rise towns of Benidorm and Calpe to the more traditional and peaceful coastal towns of Altea and Moraira.

Altea has a beautiful cathedral square, art galleries and fantastic vistas of the area, all contained in its preserved old town.

But there is so much more to the Costa Blanca. There are traditional villages and beautiful scenery to be visited inland as well as on the coast, such as Guadelest and the Jalón Valley.

The major city in the Costa Blanca area is Alicante, which has a population in excess of 250,000. Here you will find all the facilities you would expect of a major conurbation such as department stores, national and international transport links by rail and air and the largest shopping centres in the Costa Blanca area.


Dénia’s beaches are particularly attractive, stretching several kilometres from the town centre, it has a historic centre with a 12th century castle overlooking the town. Montgó, declared a Natural Park, is only a few metres from the sea and fishing boats come and go whilst they mark the rhythm of everyday life and provide Dénia with the best of the sea, making it the celebrated cuisine haven it has become. Possible activities include a climb to the castle, a visit to museums, churches, streets and old quarters, a walk in Montgó Natural Park.

But Dénia is more than just a cultural haven. The most luxurious marina on the entire coast is in Dénia, with plentiful restaurants and bars with views of the harbour, the old town and Montgó. For shopping, there is a choice of the weekly market, the boutique shops on the tree-lined Marqués de Campo or El Portal de la Marina shopping centre (the largest in the area outside Valencia or Alicante), which is situated by the Dénia exit of the AP7 motorway. El Portal also has cinemas, restaurants and ten pin bowling.

Dénia is the fiesta capital of Spain. There are regular fiestas throughout the year associated with life in the quarters, streets or the whole of the local population. The fiestas cover a wide range of groups, from family fun to night time entertainment.

Three particularly important fiestas are:

The Fallas, with their bonfires, fireworks and the final cremà or burning of the oversized effigies that the local people have worked upon all year (March)

Bous a la mar (Bulls to the sea), declared a Fiesta of National Tourist Interest. This is similar to the running of the bulls in Pamplona (July)

Moors and Christians, with a fight in the castle and especially, the gala procession through the streets (August)
