The icon of the city is its castle , located in the city center and where they have found remains of the ancient Roman city Diannium , which gave its name to the current Dénia . Actually , the Castle is later epoch : namely , the XI- XII centuries. The architecture we can discover their Muslim origins ( Almohads ) , construction of s . Inside the castle , and as part of Old town , now stands the great Archaeological Museum . The Ethnological Museum and the Toy Museum complete the offer of art and culture of the town , together with a group of interesting churches: the Baroque Church of the Assumption (XVIII ) , the Church of San Antonio (XVII ) and the convent of Our Lady of Loreto, still ruled and inhabited by Augustinian nuns , a circumstance which makes it unable to visit (XVII ) .
