Ty Newydd y Llwyn
Cottage | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Ty Newydd y Llwyn is a beautiful, 18th century stone built cottage off the beaten track and at 600 feet, has lovely views across the Vale of Clwyd. It is set in its own rambling wildlife friendly garden and is part of the owners' 15 acre property. Behind the cottage, the fields border hundreds of acres of common land so this is an ideal spot for walking and enjoying splendid views across North Wales towards Snowdonia and the coast.
The interior is a mixture of original features, sympathetically restored and contemporary comfort. The living room has the original oak-beamed inglenook with woodburner but there is also oil fired central heating for background warmth. The kitchen is large and well equipped for the discerning cook, has exposed oak beams and rafters and looks out onto the garden. The cupboards are crafted from old pews and slate. There's a quarry-tiled utility with Belfast sink, washing machine and a second fridge/freezer. There are two bedrooms, both with incredibly comfy beds and lots of storage space. The twin room has an antique corner basin and exposed rafters. The double room is light and airy and looks across the garden. The bathroom has a beautifully restored cast-iron bath and a large contemporary shower.
Ty Newydd y Llwyn is in a tranquil setting, ideal for walking, bird watching, exploring North Wales and relaxing. There are castles nearby, old market towns with historic town walls, many wildlife reserves and National Trust properties. The excellent Theatr Clwyd is only 25 minutes away.
Our aim is for guests to unwind and relax in beautiful surroundings and leave feeling restored and rejuvenated.

The North Wales region
North Wales is a beautiful and diverse region rich in spectacular scenery and small historic towns and villages. The west is dominated by Snowdonia National Park with its rugged peaks and fantastic opportunities for walking, climbing and cycling. The drive to Snowdonia over the Denbigh Moors is very rewarding with extensive views across the region. North Wales is famous for its castles, many dating back to the 13th century and built by Edward I in Denbigh, Conwy and Rhuddlan. Both Denbigh and Conwy have town walls which give an elevated view of each town and its surrounding countryside. The North Wales coast is popular with families and Anglesey has many fine and varied beaches. There are RSPB reserves at Conwy, Anglesey and Point of Ayr and NWWT reserves across the region. Farming plays a vital role in the local economy and locally sourced beef and lamb are proudly used in the region's pubs and restaurants. Local food festivals take place in Autumn. To the east lies Chester, a city with Roman origins but also famous for its double tiered Tudor shops. Slightly further away is Liverpool, easy to reach by car and rail and well worth a visit.
Ty Newydd y Llwyn nestles in a sheltered spot on Moel y Parc, one of the Clwydian Hills in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is an ideal base for walking part of the northern section of Offa's Dyke, a long distance footpath stretching the length of Wales which passes very close to the cottage. The owners' fields border a large area of common land within the AONB offering lots of opportunities for walking and wonderful views across to Snowdonia, the coast and eastwards to the Cheshire plain and Morecambe Bay.
Denbigh, 5 miles away, is an interesting little town with a long history and records dating back to the 11th century. The castle and town walls are well worth a visit after morning coffee in one of the town's cafes. Nearby Ruthin is a medieval town with half-timbered houses and an impressive Victorian gaol (open to visitors but without inmates!). There are opportunities to cycle, fish and play golf in the area around Denbigh.
