About the home

A simply furnished and well-equipped house situated by the sea - a swim is only a minute's stroll away! 3 large terraces for dining or sunbathing. Private garden with fruit trees. Only 3km away from Demre town for supermarkets, restaurants, internet cafes, etc. With no crowds and no cars, it is ideal for couples or families looking for somewhere away from the tourist market. Superb activities in vicinity.

- Main bedroom has its own TV, VCR player and Playstation. Ideal if your party feels the need to spread out a bit
- NB: The stairs in the property are quite steep so I would not recommend the house to families with children under the age of six or guests who are elderly and infirm.
- NB: Azur villa is all about the stunning location and getting off the beaten track, not the last word in luxury. Our rooms are comfortable but compact:
Main bedroom (5m x 2.5m)
Second bedroom (3.25m x 3.25m)
Third bedroom (2.75m x 2.25m)

Conditions

Booking procedure:

1. You will firstly be asked to read, print, sign and return a confirmation letter and rental agreement which will be emailed to you.

2. A 25% deposit of the total rental fee is required to secure a booking. We can only hold your dates for 5 days after you decide to book.

3. The balance is required 8 weeks before your holiday plus a security deposit against serious damages. This is £100 plus £50 for each additional week. Provided everything is OK, this will be returned after your stay.

4. On receipt of the final payment, we will email you the necessary information regarding keys, directions, things to do in area, etc.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The Turquoise coast stands out not only in Turkey but in all of the Mediterranean. The coastline is stunning and undeveloped. The sea is clean, clear and offers some of the best swimming in the Mediterranean. The fertile soil and uninterrupted sunshine provide excellent local produce, making for excellent, freshly prepared and cheap cuisine. This is also the area where the Lycians prospered in ancient times. Ruins and historical sites, many still left au naturel, are dotted all over the area.

The Demre area

- Take a boat trip for the day to the sunken city (30mins away), a Roman town destroyed by an earthquake. The town is still visible and you will be able to see everyday objects such as amphorae on the sea bed. The swimming around here is simply fantastic. Alternatively, do a fishing trip on the boat instead.
- Take a cruise on a gulet yacht. It does not get much better than this.
- A 10min drive takes you to the fascinating Lycian rock tombs at Myra. Here you will also find the church of St Nicholas. The saint was born here and is the pre-cursor to Santa Claus.
- Miles of pristine and deserted beaches are 5mins away. Perfect for swimming, sunbathing and snorkelling without the crowds.

You will need to book your flight to Antalya airport. Flights are available from many UK airports. The websites of companies I have listed below are in order of personal preference:

The fact that you can fly from several major UK airports all year round, and with the flexibility on your return in the style of Ryan air or Easyjet, makes this website a winner.

www.flightsavers.co.uk
This website is the best one I have found for charter flights with the major tour operators such as MyTravel Airways, First Choice Airways and Thomson. Your best bet if the above website does not work out.

*Please note: British nationals have to pay a £10 visa fee per person upon arrival on Turkish soil.


GETTING FROM ANTALYA AIRPORT TO AZUR VILLA:

Expect the drive from Antalya airport to Azur villa to take 2-2 ½hrs. Below I have listed three viable transport options:

1. Airport transfer

We can arrange for someone to drive you to Azur villa and back to Antalya airport. Prices vary according to the number of people and are for a one-way transfer:

Max 3 people = £55 or 80Euros (car)
Max 7 people = £70 or 100Euros (mini-van)

2. Rent a car at Antalya airport and drive yourself

The major car hire companies operate from Antalya airport and it is a straightforward procedure to book directly through them. For better prices, however, try www.auto-europe.co.uk. Be aware, however, that you will probably be arriving after dark, the drive is quite a long one and, once in Demre, you will need detailed instructions from Gino to find Azur villa.

3. Airport transfer plus car hire with driver

Put off by what you've just read above? Don't worry, there is the perfect solution. The well-established, professional and reliable Andifli car rental company (www.andifli.com), based in nearby Kas town, can not only rent you your car, but also provide a driver to accompany you from Antalya airport to Azur villa and back.

Once you get to Azur villa, the driver will leave you the car until it is time to fly home, whereupon he will accompany you back to Antalya. Just add £25 each way for petrol onto the cost of the car. Remember this system is only suitable for up to 3 adults or, at a push, 2 adults and 2 young children, using a standard vehicle.

For four or more people, Andifli can arrange to have the car waiting at Azur villa for you. Just add the cost of two transfers as advertised on their website.

“An idyllic retreat from bustling towns and other tourists” A well maintained and equipped house in a wonderful location. An opportunity to see real Turkish life away from tourist hot spots, yet relatively short drives to some amazing sights. Excellent swimming and snorkelling from rocks close to the house, and beaches within walking or cycling distance. Mehmet the caretaker providing assistance when necessary, but leaving you to make the most of the peace and tranquillity the rest of the time. A highly recommended place to stay.

This has been a really splendid holiday. We loved being in Turkey. All the Turkish people we have met have been so friendly and helpful, the scenery has been little short of breathtaking, the sea warm and Gino’s recommended sightseeing trips all winners.
